i wanna say most vw and audi guys mostly get all their stuff done at a shop and most dont know how to even work on a car. Not saying all just most so i think thats why you got the responses you did. Just food for thought maybe.

My responses were mostly from mechanics of small shops, former VW techs and current VW techs. Either way if that many people were saying to run, then it doesn't sound like its for me.

I still think a Speed6 could be a nice option. Saab 9-3, g35x would be sweet or maybe a maxima which is kinda a cheaper fwd version of it. You have so many options in that price range if you go used, sonata, fusion, is300, too many to list...

I really love my legacy just doesn't have all the features I want like aux dock, so try and get a 07 and up if you end up with a t-leg.

LIke with Legacy GT's apparently those 5 spds are junk basically and everyone spends $1k plus doing a 6 spd swap and all this shit. - I don't want this.
1k for a 6speed swap?! LOL!!!!! i payed 2500$ for just my 6speed no including driveshaft, rearend, trans mount, shifter linkage, and much more if you do brembo's with it.. but its also funny you say that you hear LGT Trans are weak cause, they are much stronger than the WRX 5speed. guys are now rebuilding the WRX 5speeds with the LGT gears because they can handle 400+hp unlike the WRX your lucky to not blow it up with 300hp.. I know you dont like the Subi rumble, but LGT's are VERY VERY nice cars all around. They can be very sporty with some sway bars and lowering springs.. not to mention the torque they pack with the 2.5l. i dont think you would be disappointed at all.

Drove a 2004 330CI auto, it was great but not that comfy.

Next I drove a 06 acura TL auto, it was fantastic, so comfy very responsive even the salesguy said they were about dead even straight line, which it did feel like, but it was a lot more comfy than the bmw and the seats had a lot more side support.

Gonna drive a few more cars yet. I thought I was sold on an auto car until I got back into my honda then shifting was more fun, so I think I'll try and drive 2 of the same cars with each trans. maybe. But to be honest driving an auto that has decent power might be perfect for a DD and actually I was hitting some corners with the bmw and it was nice to just concentrate on turning the car.

For DD the auto is king man. I had two manuals in my evo and honda, and for a while it was great. But now that I have an AUTO for dd, its so much more relaxing sitting in traffic etc.

If you are not trying to get one car to do it all, don't make sacrifices, get a straight up DD car with auto and all the comfy stuff you can get for your budget. Then you will love your fun car that much more as you get a lot more contrast and you can appreciate just how much fun the fun car can be if that makes sense.

All I know is having a slow ass car for DD makes the evo seem a lot faster to put things into perspective...which actually helps me a lot not want to mod it. When I drove the evo a ton I got bored really fast and kept modding really fast.

Just some food for thought.

^lol thanks.

I don't know if I can get any slower than my current civic, but I'll tell you shifting gears in the civic as soon as i pulled out of the sales lot was fun and having control over the car was nice, it wasn't terrible by any means to wait for the auto to shift in traffic though.

Going to try and find a TSX and see if the 4 cyl is nice as the v6 to drive, the mileage is terribly different. I think 21/29 for the TL and 22/31 for the TSX

lgt transmissions are only as weak as the owners driving them, unless you get the auto those are bullet proof. have you had a chance to drive one yet?

I think if you search hard enough on the interwebs, you're going to something that is wrong with every car, and most likely the people that speak out about it are the ones with the most problems. Think about all the people who aren't on forums or dont have a car with problems so they dont post about it.
