Other than possibly burning some oil, he already has a good DD. Don't buy anything and save cash.

GBuy a grand prix with 70k miles for $7500. Then drive that bitoch til whenever and you wont break the bank. Out of curiousity, why are you looking to spend that much on a DD? Not that its crazy expensive or anything, but i know you've been dying to get an evo so why not buy a cheaper dd that will be exactly what it is? just a to and from car. imo i'd save my money get a good, not luxury dd and save whats leftover for the car you've been enamored over.
ps i drive a 2005 grand prix gt, cloth seats, factory radio (no bose) smooth as hell driving. dependable as all hell. and i spent a whopping 6k on it with 60k miles. this is just me, but hey its simple and it works. plus without spending tons of cash or getting a $10,000+ loan I have all that extra cash to drop on the evo or save up for another project :D
A trusty Grand Prix is what spontaneously combusted next to my buddies brand new Mazda 2 and burnt it to the ground.

I'm sorry but LOL. How many actually spontaneously combust? 1 of 10? your odds are fine:rollinglaugh:

My parents had 2 Grand Prixs, a 1999 and a 2001. The '99 was a great car, the '01 had constant issues.

I want to say thank you and thanks to all of you for the help.
I did drive an acura TSX yesterday and I loved it, it was a lot lighter and nicer to drive than the bigger, heavier TL. With that said it was strangly roomy in there and wouldn't hesitate to buy it if I had kids. Although the crash ratings are a bit on the low side. ('08 with 62k miles for $15,200)
I drove an 07 legacy and it was great and to be honest if the salesguy wasn't 350+ I'm sure I would of liked it a bit more, but I would say 05-08 legacy is very nice, I'd like to have one with nav and moonroof though. ('07 with 92k for $12,xxx)
I also drove a 2011 legacy limited, they messed up the price and had it for $15,388 instead of 17,xxx they have it for now, but it did have 52xxx miles on it. It had the CVT transmission which was kinda weird. However this was a really big car and I didn't like it that much.
I missed a 2006 civic ex-l, fully loaded with nav, sunroof, heated seats, etc with 65k miles for $10k.
I'm gonna wait around for a good deal and just drive my car, hopefully spring comes soon and I can address the leaks and burning oil.
It takes me a while to work things out since I have to work them out by myself, but it's probably best if I don't take on any debt before buying a house.
Thanks.

older used benz? they tend to not have alot of miles on them because the oweners constantly buy a newer better one within 3 years.

It was a serious recall, thanks for posting the links Rosey. The one that burnt my friends car down had the recall "fixed" as well. Their insurance wouldn't pay my friend because they said technically it wasn't the owners fault. I won't own a Grand Prix anymore after that experience.

I assume his insurance paid for it and took them to court over it?
