Funny thing is, is that ken block drives a Ford now. That statement holds no weight. Kracka is right. Sponsorship money.

what makes you think the evo is better?...
My list:
Evo:
1. Can go a lot further on the stock turbo
2. You don't have to pull the engine just to swap cams
3. Can easily handle 30+ psi of boost on stock head bolts
4. IMHO, Evo is better looking
5. Take mods better.
6. Evo ECU isn't NEARLY as picky.
STi:
1. Sound cooler
2. Make torque easier
3. more sideways/flat billed hats
4. more bright colored wheels
That's about it for me.
I am not sure what your trying to accomplish here? this question is all opinion based and I only see it starting flames. anyways to answer I PERSONALLY like the evo better I have had TONS of rides in both. my old roommate had a stage 2 sti and we drove that thing everywhere, I have also had the pleasure to ride in about 7 different evos. I think the evo is better looking on the outside and inside, I enjoy the feel of them better, and they seem like they had handle more power better.
whew. Settle down.
Accomplish? nothing really... I just wanted to get everybody's opinions and see what the owners of each type of car think is better than the other. Remember, I drive a Subaru...

Hmm... I see a subaru. not an evo as choice for ken block
Really, I see ken Block in a FORD now.
Where is the sponsorship dollars from mitsu? Haven't seen much lately...
Spent in engineering apparently. :D
I'll agree with the "Ken Block isn't the greatest driver" comment. Seems he's totalled 2 wrx's in the last 2 Ojibwe's. Plus, he drives for Ford now anyways.
Subaru's do have an extremely safe body structure. Ask Mark Utecht about that. During a blizzard he got into something like a 20 or so car pileup on I35. He ended up rearending a one ton pickup (cracking the rear diff on the truck) and then was rearended by a one ton carpet van. Afterwards he could open and close ALL 4 doors.
+ elleventy bazillion on the ken Block nutswinging. Just stop already.
Safety features? meh, both cars do horrible in all the crash tests, be realistic, no one buys either car for their safety features.

My comment wasn't about crash tests. It was real world testing. It is a consideration of some. I know most people will buy a car depending on reliable power and good handling characteristics. But I thought I would add one other side of things. Don't have any experience with Evo's in real world crashes so I left that out of my comments.

Subarus seem much more solid in accidents. Not a deciding factor for me, but always something to consider.

I think evo's are better from a modding perspective. the engine has much more potential and a better bang for the buck upgrade path. I'd also give the evo the edge in suspension design. both cars have essentially the same brakes so that's a wash. depending on what year cars you're talking I'll take the STI's 6spd gearbox and drivetrain. I also liked the STI's interior slightly better with the exception of the fatboy seats. The STIs frameless windows annoy me too.
I'd take either one - I don't really have a major preference aside from the fact that I own an STI. Subarus in north america have better rally support not only from a parts perspective but from a factory perspective. SOA mails me a $200 check just for showing up at a regional rally held in conjunction with a national. So that's $800 subaru has paid me in the past 8 months. Hell, even Mazda has factory contingency money in US rally...

WTF? just trying to create drama?
On subaru forums
What makes a STi Better then an EVO?
Just creating hate...
On a side note I am not a Ken Block follower but I just wanted to point out I don't see many Evos being driven like that anymore. It probably has to do with sponsorship but come on I want to see what the evo can DO!!!
The best car out of the bunch is the Evo 6.5 IMO

I think you need to take a history lesson first, and then look at this question.
It's all about personal preference. Some evo's can do things better that some STi's can't, and vice-versa. They've both been very good at WRC, autocross, tracking, you name it.
