Brandon a few of us went out saturday as well but we got there around 3pm and stayed till 7ish. I forgot you were going till it was like 4 or 5 and I sent you that text...

It was fricking colder than I thought out, and pretty icy. It was nice to get out though. Might go one night this week, cant make it this saturday though, going to montana!

Deng. Ya we'll be out there Saturday. So far it will by myself, Katy, and 2 or 3 of my cousins. As for waxes, my board hasn't been waxed in probably 8 years, ha!

There is no such thing. The different waxes are simply for different temperatures. The ice itself will simply rub the wax right off the board because it is so hard, there's nothing you can to about it.
I understand the whole temperature thing, but I just thought maybe someone knew about some wax that held up better under icy conditions than most others.

I've met him yes, but I wouldn't say I know him well at all. So none of you guys on here are going? I'll just enjoy it for everyone I guess!

BTW, just went to The House and picked up a Board/Binding/Boot package, and I HIGHLY RECCOMEND THAT PLACE! Along with it all , I also got a nice stomp pad, and they also gave me a free shirt, free DVD, and free sunglasses! Total came out to like $370 which I think is a hell of a deal. I haven't shopped for a board in 10 years, so I really had no idea what I was looking for. They were extremely helpful and I told them I wanted a board that could freeride, and freestyle, something kind of in the middle, not more one than the other. We hopped on their site and he picked out 3 of them he'd reccomend for my application. He then went into the warehouse and brought the 3 out. Here's the package I ended up purchasing.

I'm pretty happy with it, and I can't wait to take it out on the hills Saturday!

I might head out saturday, but we'll see what happens. As for The House, I got all my stuff there, and wouldn't shop anywhere else!

yup, they sort of have specific waxes for ice... they are temp. specific. For days like this I would reccomend some CH4 (its a cheaper swix wax) and that gets the job done just fine. If you want to be serious get some HF4 but that can be busting the bank at around $90. I learned alot racing. Oh and when scraping it, I would get a smoothe surface and leave a little layer if possible to help it hold out longer on the ice. Just a few tricks I learned ski racing.

oh and supa dupa... i might be out there on friday, for sure tommorow after driving down to lse and then we'll see about friday

Last Saturday at Afton was awesome. It was a perfect day. It wasn't warm enough for anything to melt, and there were light flurries. There ended up being 6 of us and it was awesome. I hit a few jumps, and landed a 180, which isn't anything too impressive, but I was happy since I hadn't even tried to do any kind of trick in probably 8 years.

I was also real happy with my new board. It took a little getting used to though since it was freshly waxed, and my old board hadn't been waxed in who knows how long.
