I don't think the price will be anything less than 35k to start. If you look at similar cars in that "type" like the MazdaSpeed6 the GT version is compareable to the EVO X with all the options. And those cars had a sticker price of 33-35K. The EVO will have more appeal to it, more power, and probably handle better as well. While the Mazda's lacked promotion, the EVO's will not, that shit will be all over the Autosports world and it will be wel marketed. Production will probably be limited as well, and you can expect them to not be very bendable on prices for some time.

I think a 20-25k version of the Eclipse with AWD & the 4G63 would hit the fucking spot.

Ok so with all that said the price for this Evo better not go past 30k. If its almost as much as a vette sorry I rather go get a vette. Or a Ghoat if they still make them by then. Its nice to see all that cool stuff put into the car. But they have to keep the price in reason is what I am saying.

HAHA Good luck...!!!

The current IX RS goes for 29K MSRP and the IX MR jumps to 36K MSRP right now brand new!

My guess is 35k and up for the new Evo. Its going to be spendy!

Did I ever (*&ing say I didn't like EVO's, or think that this new one was bad or or bash anything? No I didn't. All I'm saying is I CAN'T AFFORD ONE. If I could, I would buy it, and all the great things that it comes with. But I can't, so a toned down version without the name brand steering wheel and the other goodies, to get it in my price range, that is what would interest me. I guess you failed to see my point, forget it.

I wasn't trying to insult you B. I agreed with you that a toned-down version would sell good. I mainly was aiming my post at the people saying the the EVO should be the toned-down version without all the extras.

The X will be $35k+ for sure, you can barely get a current RS for under $30k and that thing is pretty stripped down. Have you driven a GTO? Nothing special in the least (my dad purchased his brand new for $22k by the way, dealerships will discount those things pretty deep if you really work them). Its a decently comfortable cruiser that goes fast in a straight line; problem being it stops about as quickly as a train and isn't very manuerverable. It'll hold a long sweeping corner fine, but when you try and transition the weight and head another direction quickly good luck.

There's people saying "just put in a 4g63 again", and other statments similar to that.... But in the end, it's a BRAND NEW car, and there aren't many people that are going to tear their brand new evo x into pieces to turn it into something that they could have just bought a few years before, and at a much cheaper price now that it's used with only a couple thousand miles on it

I agree, but it isn't like it would be a huge waiste of money. Either sell the engine on eBay with 0 miles on it and let the bidders know what you are doing or hell even swap your built dsm engine into your new evo and through the evo engine into your DSM if it would fit.

Right.... Because all of these engines and chassis are interchangeable and anyone off the street can swap them.... Yes, ANYTHING can be done w/ enought time and money, and if it's REALLY what someone would want to do, more power to em'. Just realize that the kind of swaps your talking about are not near as easy, or cheap, as you would think. Besides, if everyone would want to swap a 4g63 into their evo x, who the hell would buy the evo x motor?

TKR would, and he'd swap it into a fiat or something probably, along with the complete Electronic AWD system!!

Agreed 100%, but I think the typical DSMer mentality is fast/cheap. So looking at a 30k+ evo is not appealing to some. They are just trying to find reasons to bring down the price. 1G's were upper teens and 2G's were low to mid 20's for pricing when they came out? That was over 10 years ago though, how can you expect Mitsu to make a decent car for cheap? Hell the fully loaded new eclipse goes for close to 30k!

Engineering costs money, and the Evo is packed with it. If you want a tin can go fast machine, then stick with a DSM. I have my standards, and even the current Evo doesnt touch them with class, style, comfort, and features. The new Evo reaches out to more people this way, and the people who moved away from DSM's are getting older now, they may sway over to this new platform because of the refinement.
I disagree, I want a sports car, not an Audi with a trumped up motor. Mitsu can spare the technology, the price, and the weight. Think Evo RS, minus two doors and make the chassis a little smaller. No thanks on the active diff, electronic suspension, suede dash, sunroof, etc.
I like my VR4 a lot, but I still think Mitsu could have done better with everything they have made.

The current Evo's AWD system is actually far more complex than the current Audi S4.

And its supposed to handle better, drive better and be faster than the current Evo, so how is that not a sports car? So is my M3 with is wood grain interior and heated seats not a sports car? Nots sure whats the definition exactly. Lack of ammenities and features do not make one car a better sports car than another

I'm with Peter, as its looking right now the X is going to dominate the current EVO in all catagories (as it should since its a completely redesigned model). If it can do that while also adding more style, class, and creature comforts then whats the problem? I for one have zero interest in the EVO RS, I don't want a stripped down rattle box that still costs nearly $30k. If I were building a pure track car then sure, but not if its something I'll be spending time in every day. Why wouldn't you want things that help you go around a track more quickly? I remember when everybody was upset that the American EVO 8 didn't come with all the fancy drivetrain electronics that it had in Japan.

This battle is useless though. There are those of us who like one type of car, and those of us who like the opposite. We are going to all have to just agree to disagree on this one. Mitsu seems to be building the X for guys like Peter and me, hopefully they come out with a model that suits you guys as well (RaliArt possibly?).
