I really don't understand you guys bashing all the special parts (brakes, wing, seats, electronics, etc.) on the EVO. Those things combined are what help make the EVO a special car. If you think a DSM is the ultimate car then fine, stick with it, but don't expect the rest of the world to not want progress. Braking and cornering performance are VERY important aspects of a sports car and I am willing to pay a premium price for a car that can outshine its competition in those categories. Interior is another important aspect to me, I do not want a tin can with a lawn chair bolted down; I want a well laid out interior that can hold me comfortably during spirited driving and still look nice and comparable to other cars in its price bracket. I am also all for the electronically controlled suspension and drivetrain aslong as it's beneficial to performance; yes it may weigh extra, but at the same time the benefits often times more than compensate.

This is the end of an era (4g63). :(

I am excited but cautiously optimistic about the performance capabilities beyond stock of the new evo engine. I don't know if it will live up to the potential of the 4g63 but it would be damn cool if it does. :)

Swap a 4g63, problem solved.

I agree with s2, without the technology that the evos have packed into their awd system you wouldn't be able to achieve lap times that they do on road coarses. Plus the evo reflects its price tag now and actually looks somewhat like a luxury car with the changes they have done.

Hands down the best evo ever produced was the EVO VI though...

Agreed 100%, but I think the typical DSMer mentality is fast/cheap. So looking at a 30k+ evo is not appealing to some. They are just trying to find reasons to bring down the price. 1G's were upper teens and 2G's were low to mid 20's for pricing when they came out? That was over 10 years ago though, how can you expect Mitsu to make a decent car for cheap? Hell the fully loaded new eclipse goes for close to 30k!

Engineering costs money, and the Evo is packed with it. If you want a tin can go fast machine, then stick with a DSM. I have my standards, and even the current Evo doesnt touch them with class, style, comfort, and features. The new Evo reaches out to more people this way, and the people who moved away from DSM's are getting older now, they may sway over to this new platform because of the refinement.

I think an in-between wrx type model would be great, for those of us who want no computers to do the driving for us and especially dont want to pay for it.

Anyone heard any speculation on pricing yet?

Ok so with all that said the price for this Evo better not go past 30k. If its almost as much as a vette sorry I rather go get a vette. Or a Ghoat if they still make them by then. Its nice to see all that cool stuff put into the car. But they have to keep the price in reason is what I am saying.

Did I ever (*&ing say I didn't like EVO's, or think that this new one was bad or or bash anything? No I didn't. All I'm saying is I CAN'T AFFORD ONE. If I could, I would buy it, and all the great things that it comes with. But I can't, so a toned down version without the name brand steering wheel and the other goodies, to get it in my price range, that is what would interest me. I guess you failed to see my point, forget it.

I'd almost be willing to put down some cash that it will be around 30k or more. BTW, a new z06 is 70k+. I honestly think the X is unglier than sin, and the open deck motor is deffinatley a turn off. There's people saying "just put in a 4g63 again", and other statments similar to that.... But in the end, it's a BRAND NEW car, and there aren't many people that are going to tear their brand new evo x into pieces to turn it into something that they could have just bought a few years before, and at a much cheaper price now that it's used with only a couple thousand miles on it..... Only my opinions though, so take it how you want to. I personally won't be considering one anytime in the future
