Hard to get into gear

have an 98 eclipse gsx and juss got the clutch fixed after the 2900lbs blew up on me. But after i got it it fixed for about $1900 it was hard to get into gear, you have to really power shift it into gear also reverse grinds when you try to put it in reverse. Also when the new act 2100 and flywheel package was put in they did not put the flywheel plate back on because it was the flywheel that extended out to far or something like that, if there is a way that you can put one on please let me know. Anyone who might know what the problem that could be causing this please let me know.

Re: Hard to get into gear

yes i did do some adjustment to the clutch pedal, and it is still the same. the other thing i forgot to mention was that when the clutch blew up the first time the fork was bent and the place i took it too said that the shift linkage cables where pretty bad so got both of those replace also. this only happens when the car is driven for a long time then it wont go to gear easily. i am going to take it back to them this friday and they are suppose to take a look at it. the place i took it too is a small shop called Action Auto.

Sounds like an engagement issue. That inspection cover you are referring to (back of trans, bolts onto motor) ALWAYS fits with every flywheel I have ever put on.
Good luck.

the only adjustment to the clutch itself you can do is align it before you put the tranny on. You can adjust the free play ( distance between the through out bearing and the PP) but these are hydraulic, usually there is not free play on hydraulic equiped vehicles. You can also bleed the clutch at the master / slave cylinders.

Your shift linkages could be bound up on something or not bolted to the fire wall. You could be getting Firewall flex or maybe something retarded like they didnt put in any gear fluid. How does it shift w/ the car off ?

Re: Hard to get into gear

with the car off it shifts fine, but once you drive it for a long time then it will start acting up like it is goin to slip, which it did agian and when you let it cool down and drive it the next day it drives fine agian.

Re: Hard to get into gear

Have the clutch inspected. My brother had a 3/S with the exact same problem when he installed RPS max street clutch. I forgot what the part was called, but it was bent a little bit and we sent it back to RPS and they gave us a new one.

I would recommend getting it to where its acting up before you take it in, reproducing problems for mechanics is always a pain.
