What engineering to go in to?
I plan on finishing up at UTI in Chicago and going back to probably the U of M for Engineering. I am leaning towards Mechanical Engineering as a major, and possibly do Electrical Engineering as a Minor. I enjoy designing things, but I am also a computer nerd/nut and wouldn't mind getting into the electrical side of things. I am thinking with a "degree" at UTI, some experience in the field, a ME Major, and a EE minor, I could land a job doing some experimental automotive shit. Like designing Hybrid systems or something like that. I know the Engineering field is VERY broad, and I really cannot decide what I want to do. I don't think I could do Chemical Engineering, because my mind doesnt like to work with things of atomic size's, it confuses me/mezmorize's me that something can be so tiny.
What other Engineering/Hands on fields are there out there. I really do not want to work on cars, so thats out of the question. I would much rather be designing/building/working in a open office enviornment. Come to think about it, I really don't know if I want to work in an office, or a lab, or what, probably a combo of both. Is there anything else that you think would be interesting with a good job outlook. I could not do a 9-5 numbers crunching like accounting or anything like that, it's just not for me.
I also love astronomy, but I am highly doubting that there is any job outlook for anything to do with stars or anything of the like, so that is pretty much out of the question.
I'm really just trying to get opinions of what people who are into what I am into think about this shit. And what job's are available.
