I just brought the basket case home

92 talon TSI AWD. I dont know everything about it. I do know it was worth the 500 it cost me. Here is the low down of what I know / what I was told. I bought it from a guy named Jeff, who bought it from a guy named JR. I am friends with JRs cousin. The cousin called me and informed me that JRs former car was for sale for cheap. So I picked it up.

I have no way to work on a car ATM, so I called JR and asked him to put it back together for me. That is the current state. He said when he sold the car, it was in perfect working order with 0 miles on it. All of a sudden we got the car back and found out the guy never even drove it. Jeff took apart the head to port it right after he bought it. It also looks like someone tried to replace the odometer lol.

-6 bolt rebuilt by trust worthy guy
-Head ported on exhaust side and apparently someone fucked with the intake side
-Eprom ECU ( i was told)
-4 bolt rear ( april make)
-stock 90 external oil cooler
-Sunroof ( stock)
-Maroon in color
-AZ car, one spot of rust on passenger door.

As for the bad - Its a long list
-Paint is burned from sitting in the sun too long
-One rust spot on passenger door
-No driver door handle
-I cant find the 2nd half of the turbo ( exhaust housing I think?)
-Middle taillight to the 92 talon is broken
-Front bumper/ hood is still at the previous owners house.
-Previous owner is a PITA to work with
-Entire dash is ghetto. Peeling over every where. Missing peices etc.
-1 flat tire and 2 different set of rims
-202 miles on chassis
-Can't find the TB lol
-Head was tampered with on intake side, not sure if its too bad.

I am unsure about the rest.

If anyone has anything to help, or has any advice its appreciated. I will post some pictures as soon as I can get some. I need a lot of parts but have a minimal amount of money to work with now that I am going to school.

Re: I just brought the basket case home

Sounds like a 500 car to me. It need a lot of work. Sure the motor runs. Who is the reputable person whe built the motor. I would of bought it if I had time but 500 is about all it is worth. Being a AZ car doesn't matter if it has any rust whatsoever.

Motorcycle cop pulls up next to me on UNI and says "Want to race?"
Me- "I don't think you would stand a chance."
Cop says "probably not" and drives off.

Joe Graphelo built it. A couple people on the boards know him, and Mike aknowledges his abilities. The door is rusting ONLY because there was a gouge there and metal was exposed. The rest is rust free I believe. I have all of the parts needed to get her going and its costing me 400 to make it work the right way. ARPs, Valve seals, new HG, My good 14b, 255 FP, AFC etc. Those are things I had for the car anyways. Has a new Tbelt and tensioners already on it. I would have thought about buying it for a G. I'd still be less than 2k into it with everything working top notch. Daddy paints so the paint aint no thang

Re: I just brought the basket case home

I wouldn't like putting something back together that someone else took apart, but atleast you got it for cheap.
