Question Anyone local feel like lending a hand?

Just checking to see if anyone local has a pressure tester and can help me find a possible boost leak (I have been hitting fuel cut but don't know why yet). Or if you have a little more time on your hands, maybe help me put a different fender on. I would even pay you for time spent helping, thats no big deal. I live in Bloomington by highway 169 and Old Shakopee Rd. The car is a 93 TSI AWD.

Feel free to contact me any of these ways...

Or just post here.

Thanks! And hopefully I'll get to meet some local DSMers this way.

If nobody does in a week or two, I can. Post about yourself in the New Members section.

Re: Anyone local feel like lending a hand?

Thanks Carlos!

I figured out the problem now I think. I no longer hit fuel cut after hacking the air can and removing the silencer, but tonight I installed a boost guage so I could see whats really going on. Lets just say my boost would max at 25 psi!! Not cool.

So how easy is it to pull off the wastegate and and see if its stuck? Is there another way to test it without taking it off? If anyone in the area wants to come check it out, please do!

I wouldn't check the wastegate until after you do a boost leak test to see where you are losing the air.

Motorcycle cop pulls up next to me on UNI and says "Want to race?"
Me- "I don't think you would stand a chance."
Cop says "probably not" and drives off.

I don't have a boost leak, I'm sure of that.

I made a vac line pressure tester out of a bike pump and a nozzle I found and pressurised the wasgate and it barely moved at all. So I pulled off the wastegate and it worked fine, a little choppy as I pressurised it though. So I got it good with WD40 and it smoothed out and is working fine now. Then I put it back on the turbo and pressurised it again and it wouldn't do very much again. It turns out that the heat sheild was getting in the way of the actuator arm. I removed the heat sheild and put the wastegate back on, then pressurised it again, and now it is opening freely as it should.

Thats as far as I have gotten tonight. I need to go to bed so I'm going to finish it up later. Hopefully all is well after that........hopefully.
