I finally pulled the head off this morning, on my 90 gsx.

Even though I tried popping the clutch, while my car was slowing down, and popping it when were we towing it (with a strap), amazingly things are good. I didn't know the timing belt was broken til it was home, my started and alternator had been acting up so I figured it was just that.

My timing belt broke a while back. When I pulled the head (this morning), I discovered that the pistons were fine luckily, and to my amazement, the valves are all perfect too. By some thankful act of God, when my belt broke the cams were both at TDC, and so all the valves were up. I am really happy, because that means not only will my 98 be finished up this week, but I will also be able to have the 90 going soon.

Whoa...close call. I should start thinking about getting my timing belt done, I checked it the other day and it wasnt correctly centered on the cam. So its running against the plastic cover and some of it was already ripped off. While I'm at that, I might as well change my head gasket as well. Gotta go to QPR and see how much they'll do it for.

Glad to hear you got lucky on that! Bent valves suck. << my obvious post for the day.

BTW, On our website, all the parts, costs, etc for all DSM timing jobs are listed out. Even has the part #s so you can order the stuff yourself if you want and save a little more, (5% with the discount) otherwise, we can have the parts usually dropped off the same day from Brookdale. Call the shop if you want to make an appointment. 651-488-7774 or stop in.

Cool...you guys made a new page. I guess I'll have to stop in sometime this month to see how much it'll be for a Timing Belt replacement and Head gasket replacement.
