OK well I thought I'd start a thread on this instead of stealing the other thread on 2.4's to ask this stuff. Anyway I gotta 91 tsi awd. Once I get back from Japan, I plan on rebuilding the engine on the talon. I was going to just do a 95 piston/1g rod rebuild. But I thought hey maybe while its out, maybe i could just do a stroker, maybe help spool up a little bit. So I researched this stuff for about a week now and am interested in the 2.3L setup. I know what all I'll need. But I still have a couple questions. I've heard from people that a 2.3L has worse rod angles. And yes it seems it has worse angles then a normal 4g63 would, but I've read many posts saying it has the exact same rod angles as a 4g64. So wouldn't that kinda negate that whole thing as a reason to not do it? If they run that rod angle stock on the 4g64, then I would think that it'd be a safe rod angle to run personally. Also I've heard you have to grind away a little bit in the block so that you don't have your rods hitting the block. Could anyone explain to me, or maybe show a picture of what exactly one would have to grind off, and how much. Or is this possibly something I could just have the machine shop that bores out my block do? Also some say that you might have the shave a little off the ends of the crank. Could someone expand on exactly why this is, and again, what exactly is needed to be shaven. And also, could this again be something I could just have the machine shop do or maybe even have a shop like QPR or Elite or someone do since they are more in touch with DSM specific stuff then a machine shop would be. Last quick question is if anyone has any experience with SCAT rods. I've been lookin at rods and was going to get Eagles. But I ran across SCAT rods for sale by Slowboy. Says they are pretty much the same as Eagles, capable of 600+ HP. Anyother input is appreciated, but if you don't know what you're talking about, please don't just post some hate reply saying 2.3's blow ass. If you do say 2.3's suck, please explain your reasoning because I wanna know as much as possible before I decide on something. It'll either be this stroker method, or just rebuilding it as a 2.0 with 1g rods and 2g pistons. Those are my options i think. Thanks
