Calling all Florida members/mechanics

Hey all,

I am in Mahtomedi here, and just purchases an eclipse spyder in Tampa FL where my brother picked it up and also purchased a transmission to go into it. It is a 2.4 auto and the trans is a direct rebuilt replacement. Does anybody have any resources that might help me out? I don't want to fly down and drive it back with a trans that could give out at any moment (and without reverse), and I don't want to try to do it myself with limited resources and don't exactly trust most shop labor or pricing. Any pointers would be great. Thanks!

Re: Calling all Florida members/mechanics

Thanks for the quick replies guys. The trans shifts late, slow, and hard and doesn't engage into reverse. BUT, it does run and drive if necessary. The shipping alone would probably pay for the install depending how I went about it. It is in Wesley Chapel which is just north of Tampa by maybe 20-30 min. My brother can drive it anywhere needed within probably an hour. I tried PMing and calling a few DSMTuner members down there and they were not exactly enthusiastic to help and didn't have many more options than my brother and his garage (with little to no tools). The rebuilt one is all ready to go just needs swapping in. C3L1CA, where at?

She said her dads shop would do it but the shop is up in Yulee which is about 30min north east from Jacksonville from what I could tell on the map. Which is about 3 hours from where the car is located.

If you want I could get the number and you could call them and talk to them about it. Let me know, but either way good luck!

Yes please! Send me a PM with any info and it's worth a conversation to find out. 3 hours is a lot but then again so is 24 back home.

Orlando has a pretty decent DSM forum. Not sure how far that is from Tampa though
