i have a couple questions regarding the 2.4L engines.

first off, are the internals the same on narrow 2.4's as they are on wide 2.4's ?

there is a large thread on starquestclub.com on swapping the wide 2.4 in and using the 2.0 dohc head.

can you use 2.0 rods in the 2.4's ? if so, are there any advantages, i.e. 2.0 rods are stronger??

does anyone know if the wide and narrow 2.4's have the same flywheel bolt pattern and what is that bolt pattern?
(bonus points if you get this next one)
if it's a 6 bolt, is it the same as a starion/conquest 6 bolt flywheel?

and last but not least, what is the cheapest you've ever heard of anyone doing this swap for? (dsm or otherwise).

thanks!

The internals on the big bolt pattern are the same. The 6 bolts are identical rods to a 2.0 6 bolt. I am not sure on the bolt pattern, but I am pretty sure it is the same.

Funny, I just answered a bunch of questions for a quest guy along this same line on tunerz. Damn, I suppose you tools are all going to be taking up all the wideblocks now.

Why would a SQ guy want a 2.4? It can't much rev more than their 2.6 and it makes less torque. Unless your doing a 2.0 crank in a 2.4 block, I fail to see the point.

Im sure there is a great deal of power to be gained with the DSM head, not to mention the number of turbo and intake manifold options with a 4G63 head.

Actually the 4g63 was derived from the 4g61 that was in the cordia. That was a car if you don't know. The 4g54 is a truck engine, but the 4g63 was designed as a car engine.

Anyway, back on topic. It shouldn't be too hard to swap the electrical system over either. You will need to do an engine bay harness though.

It came in the MM at one point in time. But all good motors come from trucks.

you know, it's even funnier when you call it a forklift motor, or a boat motor. it's been used in everything under the sun, probably. anyway, i just think it would be cool because right now, as far as i know, no one has done this particular swap, so it would have the appeal of being origional even though the idea has been around for some time.
