MLS Head Gasket

Hey guys.

If you read this thread http://www.mitsustyle.com/forums/sho...highlight=idle
Then you know what happened.... Anyway I got a Mitsu MLS 4 layer head gasket from MAP. My question is proper ways to seal it. I know all about decking both head and block, but some guys say to clean and lap the block. I also head some guys using copper spray, or using oil to seal, how does that work? What should I do.

Install it against a clean and dry surface.

Re: MLS Head Gasket

ok so no need to machine or deck the head and block. Just make sure both sides are clean and dry?

Re: MLS Head Gasket

If they're out, it's a good idea to have them checked/machined to ensure they're flat.

Re: MLS Head Gasket

If your head warped when you blew the previous headgasket you should probably get it machined flat, or at least make sure it's flat with a good straight edge. Probably don't need to machine the block.

Re: MLS Head Gasket

The head is completly level. I checked it with a straight edge and a feeler gauge. And just the head is out from when I melted my valve.

Re: MLS Head Gasket

I put on a little copper spray, just for good measure, but yeah, clean surfaces and proper torque procedure.
