Find me a car! $7k max?
So talking to my agent/claims person, it sounds pretty likely that my car will be totalled.
After owning the civic for almost a yr, I can say it was nice to have a car that was reliable, got great MPG and had power everything (even moonroof)
But it was uncomfortable and still painfully slow, a big improvement over the 70whp of the ranger, but still pretty bad.
I don't want to get too crazy because I still would like to get an evo someday, but its not on the top of the priority list at all.
Right now I'm thinking something like a '02 maxima, comfy, loaded features and plenty of power. I have also been told that they are extremely reliable and last a long time.
I'd like something that will last a very long time.
Feel free to post links/ideas.
Thank you.

Id stick with a 4 cylinder and Japanese. Gas is only going up, and you drive a ton. Maxima probably wont get anything past mid 20s.
Accord might be a good bet like you were saying before, seats are comfy. Possibly more than the owdee.

I was jealous of your Civic. I personally would rock another econobox if I were you. Civic, Elantra... What do RSX/TSX's run now a days?

I loved it totally for a while, but being that uncomfortable sucks and still having issues merging onto the highway sucks.
at this point I'd give up some mpgs for power. It does make me smiles when I fill up though.
I'm going to drive a couple of accords 4 & 6 cyl, and a few maximas and see what I think.
Bah, I'm looking at econo boxes again. I forgot that is the point of this car, is too keep forever and get good MPG. Plus i want it to be a backup down teh road.

Re: Find me a car! $7k max?
I hear ya, gotta find a good balance for what you are wanting. I like Maxima's nice cars, you must be hanging around Paul too much Just think you're going to take a huge hit on mpg. Bigger engine, heavier. There's so many options out there it's hard to suggest a couple. WHen I was getting out of the military, my goal was to pick up an affordable daily driver that was a balance of cost, mpg, roomy, comfort, not a rusty pos. I ended up with that green Galant and it did me well.

Mazda3 is always an option, good handling and pretty reliable.

Re: Find me a car! $7k max?
How about a newer Tampontiac? A friend of mine has an '05 grand prix gt and gets 26mpgs on the freeway. Plenty of space, more then enough power to scoot from place to place.

That honda on White bears site seems decent, lower miles too. Check it out brown.

Re: Find me a car! $7k max?
My vote would go for the Maxima. Those were in my view before I had the GVR4. They had good power, especially the ones with the VQ35 engine, and decent gas mileage. Accords are damn smooth though. It's a tough decision. That or get a Acura TL if they're not too pricey.
