Re: Evo flyby

Brake boosting makes a huge diff. I've never seen anyone do it next to me while I stay at the same speed.

Nice.

Re: Evo flyby

He took off pretty quick...so I am guessing he was brake boosting ?? I have no sound here at work.

Cars look a lot faster from a slow car

Re: Evo flyby

If you had sound you would be able to tell. Its fun when u run someone without brake boosting, and then again and brake boost its completely different.

Re: Evo flyby

brake boost helps a lot for bigger turbos. I remember going against my honda buddies not brake boosting and i'd still take them quite a few bus lengths. One of my friends even thought I had NOS (lol) when I brake boost. Brake boost is fun but it'd be more fun with that FP (color) of some sort

Re: Evo flyby

Brake boost ftw if you have a big turbo and going from a roll.

Re: Evo flyby

It helps on a small turbo too, but isn't usually needed.

Not usually when racing similar displacement, but it's amazing to note the difference even with a Td05 frame turbo when racing a large static displacement V8 --it's an easy car and a half disadvantage without it.

Brake boosting should be part of a balanced diet for any turbo racer.

Yea, but what are the side effects of brake boosting a lot? Has to warp rotors and wear through pads I'd think.

Re: Evo flyby

I would suggest that it would add no more heat then braking to a stop from speed. The brake system is not aware if the rotating force of the wheel is being applied by the engine or the road.

Re: Evo flyby

I'd suggest it puts much more stress than you are implying. Breaking to a complete stop is much different than breaking while accelerating through the breaking process in order to maintain the same speed that you were traveling before applying the break while hitting the accelerator to build boost...

I'm not a big break booster, I have tried it, it's wild fun... so I can't say for sure.

But I have seen videos of Evos in Florida racing on the highway at night who break boost and their rotors insta-glow bright orange / red, that is heating a rotor up super fast... Which could result in warping.

Re: Evo flyby

^lol. I don't like to do it with similar cars (2 16G cars)I do think its hard on teh car, but I will do it against a nitrous or boosted V8.
