So I went to New York late monday night to pick up my car. After 23 hours and some shitty ass weather we made it to New York and got my car on the trailer. We proceeded to stay in the shittiest hotel in New York city, complete with free porn and a diagonal mirror placed on the wall of mirrors that had a direct view of the bed. Needless to say we decided not to take a shower or sleep in the sheets.

(See pic 1)

We began driving back Wednesday morning, and we were making pretty good time. We get into Pennsylvania and the weather starts to get worse once again. It is lightly raining/snowing and we don't really think much of it since it was much much worse the day before and we had no problems with traction. Well, at about 7:30 or so it got a little colder. We hadn't seen any cars in the ditch so we didn't think twice about ice on the roads.

We saw a cop car in the distance, and my friend (who was driving at the time) began to merge into the left lane to avoid the cop. What he didn't notice is that he began to merge on a bridge, and apparently bridges freeze faster than roadways. The back end of the van swung out to the right, and I yelled for my friend to look who was looking over his shoulder at the time. But, sadly it was too late. We began to spin and hit the center cement divider at about 50 mph. We bounced and the airbags deployed. I looked left and saw headlights of an oncoming semi truck, and looked right to see my car and the trailer next to us as we spun. We then continued spinning as I was sure I was going to die and go into oncoming traffic. We spun for what seemed like forever an I braced for impact, but nothing...We ended up in the ditch between the divided highways.

(See pic 2)

In the end we were very lucky that no one was hurt, and luckily my car was fine as well. I can't figure out how it stayed on the trailer! The reciever for the trailer snapped in half as well.

The only damage to the van is to the front bumper, rear bumper where the trailer hit, and the airbags.

Well, we got back on the road today. We were able to drive it all the way home with no problems, except for the massive traffic jam in Chicago! And we overheated in traffic there due to the fact that the radiator fan now hits the shroud and will not spin!

Was it worth it, maybe not, but at least I got what I went there for

(See Pic 3)

I have decided that I am never leaving minnesota again, well except for the shootout

Yeah them fucking bridges are always bad and they freeze first because of the air moving underneathe them makes them not retain any warmth like a normal asphault road, concrete roads are almost just as bad for freezing but bridges take the cake.

But anyway atleast you car didn't go flying off the bridge onto the road below and its a good thing nobody was hurt.

I am very glad we came out alright too! We hit that wall pretty hard, there is suprisingly little damage though...

Here is a link to the pics, won't let me post them on here? There are more on the third page as well.

I was in a car that spun on 35 in Albert Lea right on the bridge by the big gas station. We where freezing rain and cruise. Scarry stuff. I can't imagine spinning with a trailer. I've jacknifed and that was scarry enough. Glad to see your ok and everything is realitivly minor. :toast:

Yeah, the "shipping company" as they would call themselves, took over a month and a half to inform me that the only carrier that could possibly take my car from NY to MN, couldn't actually move my car.

Those businesses are the worst run operations, basically they tell you they can move your car, not really knowing whether or not this is true. Then they try to find a carrier for it who they subcontract to while they keep like $200. In my case they never found a carrier, so I decided it would be faster to go get it, and what luck! Spring break is coming up and I have no plans...And it would have been cheaper, had this not happened!

I think there is some damage to the frame though, the hood moved over and the radiator fan hits the shroud now due to this. So that means A LOT more money to fix it or they may just total it, damn good thing we don't have to pay for it!

Did you get the optional rental insurance or use your own insurance to cover it? It might not even go on your record if you got the optional stuff.

They said they didn't sleep on the bed... But with a room like that no one knows what else may have happened!

Glad to hear you guys are fine, though... Get everything squared away and get that car going.
