OEM Evo BCS w/ #65 pill works great
So my buddy rosey with an IX wants to keep his car stockish under the hood for multiple reasons. Been there, done that, cool. I've been playing with the GM BCS for a while now, and brought up the idea of using a #65 pill with the stock BCS to see how it worked. His car is on a stock tune, and he has a full TBE, no cat. No intake, MBC, nothing else.
So we swapped in the pill tonight, I don't recall where he got it but it was about $20. Kinda spendy, but cheaper than a MBC and GM BCS. This is entirely an experiment, I don't know anyone else around here doing this. So kracka loaded tephra v5 on his car and got him all familiar with NLTS and KnockCEL, etc, and he drove it for a few days.
Tonight we swapped in the pill, the stock airbox sucks of course but we got it in there without too much hassle.
I found some basic settings on evolutionm for this #65 pill that were said to be run at 22psi peak, and upped them a tad, shooting for 23-24psi peak, try to hold that, then taper off as little as possible up top.
Within about 5 iterations or so we got the WGDC table dialed in, and were tailoring the target load table (tephra v5 only has one of each, remember!). We did a few more tuning iterations to get rid of some knock he was getting up top, and leaned the car out a tad as it was running pig rich after 5000rpms. I did not want to go too crazy, as we did not have a wideband, just shooting for about .89 on the narrowband, but we were able to do this with relative ease.
As a result, the car pulls nice and strong, boost is quite steady, and seems to hold at least 20psi by redline. NOT BAD for a car with stock air box and stock paper filter!!!
