HID Install Help

So I purchased a HID kit and I'm trying to install it but I'm not getting any powa to the ballasts. The kit comes with a harness in addition to the ballasts. I installed the ballasts directly to the OEM harnesses like the directions said, but nothing. So then I tried hooking up the HID harness but I have no idea where the OEM headlight harnesses join and connect into the main feed. Because on the HID harness, there is only one connector to connect to the OEM harnesses, so I'm assuming the OEMs join somewhere and become one and go into a main feed. I hope that makes sense? Any suggestions?

Installing on a 2g.

Re: HID Install Help

No, ok I guess I didn't solve the problem. I still can't get them to light up. I've tried everything they said on the website instructions and the instructions that came with the kit. I didn't ground it on the battery terminal like their website says, so I thought that was the problem. So I had to extend the ground cable from the HID harness b/c it was too short, and then I hooked it up to the negative battery terminal, but nada. I ordered from mobilehid.com. My OEM harnesses still work when I put the normal bulbs back in, but not when I hook it up to the HID harness.. I'm lost. I changed the fuse and relay on the HID harness just to make sure, still nothing.

also, I'm plugging the remote turn on into one of the factory harnesses, isn't this correct?

The harness:

Re: HID Install Help

i dont know exactly how your setup is, but i didnt use the battery hookups. i just use the power and ground that comes/goes from the stock headlight harness

for the harness that comes with the kit, are you making sure youre plugging into the correct positive and negative wires? you could try flipping them.

other than making sure all of the connections are tight, im not sure. i wouldnt think that both ballasts or both bulbs were bad.

if you can take some pics of your setup, that would help.

Re: HID Install Help

i figured it out.. so ghey. They factory harness had to clip into the HID harness reversed. I tried that initially but it wasn't going because of the nub that clips into the normal bulbs, so today I said what the hell, and sanded that nub down a tad, and low and behold, it goes all the way in and BAM WHITE LIGHT!! I can't take pics right now because the car is in middle of the garage for the winter, but it was lighting up the road in front of my house even with a wall in the way. I can't really tell that there is glare in my stock headlight housings, I don't know what people have been complaining about. I'll try to move the car out a bit on the weekend and take pics.
