Tar to stck plstic to the door? WTF??

So yea... they used tar to stick the plastic on the door & when it's hot out , it runs down over the lock slide bars & out the bottom of the door... but never again. I got rid of it all with a plastic scraper some goo gone and lots of rags & elbow grease. I also cut new door plastic & used silicone to stick it on.

Heres what causes 99% of lock problems in 2G Eclipse doors!

Ugh that brings back bad memories! I had that door panel off probably five times while I owned that car, and everytime it looked worse and worse under there. Smart move on the silicone!

Every car I've ever had the door panels off of has had some sort of black adhesive like that.

Maybe it was a soft batch, like what I dropped in the toilet this morning.

Yeah, something's strange, I've never seen it run like that. Just don't get it on your clothes, it's hard to get out.

Mitsubishi is the only company I've seen that on. I've seen that on a few occasions. It's no fun at all to work with.

My '99 GSX is the same way. Sucks when it's hot and humid out because it will run and drip down onto the side skirts of the car. Then I have to use tar remover on it. Very poor on Mitsubishi's part.
