turbo install ??'s

So i am installing a new turbo that is oil cooled only.
From my research i have found that my options for the water lines are, 1. block the stock lines off some how (bolts/weld the outlets shut) or 2. pick up a NT water pipe, well i was at the J-yard and i found one, so i pulled it, but then i noticed the thermostat housing on the NT is different by way that is doesn't have a port for the coolant to feed the turbo, so i picked that up also.

Has anyone heard of doing this? Using the NT parts to install an oil cooled only turbo.
Also my external dumb is facing right at the front crossmember/subframe, is that gonna be safe? I think that i will get an extension welded onto it to clear the bottom of the car.
Any tips for denting the water pipe, i can't fit the compressor in there either.
I will post pics tomorrow.

Thanks
Aaron

Re: turbo install ??'s

Sounds fine to me. I swapped to a 90 water pipe and thermostat housing when I changed my oil cooler and was very happy with not having to deal with plugging or bridging water lines. I say eliminate as many unneeded stuff as possible.

Re: turbo install ??'s

I used a pry bar to dent the pipe, and I also forced it, by bolting up my old 61. as for the lines, I pinched the openings on the water pipe, and then welded them shut. Also, remember to feed the turbo oil from the oil filter housing, and not the head. You'd feed from the head if it was a BB, but not when it's only oil-cooled.
