Re: Question about 1g AWD auto trans problem

The transmission computer is probably in limp mode. This has been covered quite a bit on this forum. We had the same thing happen with my ex's 92 awd auto. It was stuck in 2nd gear when we would put it in drive. It is a feature to insure that you can get the car to a mechanic or home if a fault code is tripped. Get it to Aamco or some other transmission shop and have them hookup the computer to it. When we had it done, the computer would not communicate so we had to have the TCU rebuilt. We sent it to Carney Auto in Austin, MN and they did it for a very reasonable price plus gave a good warranty with it.

If it's a problem in the tranny, I have one sitting in my garage that I'm trying to get rid of.
