Need someone who can make CAD drawings
OK, as the title states, I need some help with making some "drawings" of some stuff I have made. I don't know much about this kind of thing, but I assume it can be CAD, Solidworks, etc. The sooner the better as well. Anyone who has the skills, speak up.

Re: Need someone who can make CAD drawings
I have the skills. What type of file format do you need? I have 8+ years experience using Pro-E. What type of parts are they (sheet metal, castings, plastic, etc.)? Let me know I can probably help you out.

Re: Need someone who can make CAD drawings
You will probably need DXF files if you are giving it to a machine shop. I can do them, but Mark has a lot more experience.

Re: Need someone who can make CAD drawings
Cool, thanks for the replies guys. It is a turbo kit I made for the an NSX platform. So basically it is a collector off the two headers in to the turbo. Then the exhaust piping, and intercooler piping, etc.. Its a full working kit. Right now its on the car, but I plan to pull it all off as soon as I have something/someone set up. Let me know what other info you want/need. But if this is something you can do, PM me your contact info and when I should call, then we can discuss what it takes etc.
As far as type of file, I have no idea, I will be giving this to a manufacturer/bender/machine shop or whoever. So you guys know better then me what I should be using. Basically I called a couple places and some said, without "drawings" they won't work with me, others were more helpful.

Re: Need someone who can make CAD drawings
You can take the invidual pieces off and have them scanned in 3d. The companies that do this also will usually convert those measurements into CAD models for you.
This is the best idea for you if you want an EXACT duplicate.

Re: Need someone who can make CAD drawings
I agree with something 3D like that you will want it scanned in by a laser or CMM, doing it by hand would be nearly impossible to get all of the compound angles right.

Re: Need someone who can make CAD drawings
Where is Jakey? I know he could recommend a place or two, I think he has in other people's project threads.
Drawing each individual piece would be time consuming but definitely possible. It wouldnt be hard if you have the real thing to take measurements from, but it would take time.

Re: Need someone who can make CAD drawings
Mechanical desktop was my bitch in high school, I finished the 9 week course work in a little shy of 5 weeks. The other half of the quarter was spent making realistic models of rims as I could. It was a lot of fun, but I cant remember a lot of it. What programs do you guys use?

Re: Need someone who can make CAD drawings
Over the years, I have used...
AutoDesk Inventor-->Good learning program but that's about it.
Pro/ENGINEER-->Excellent, very powerful.
Solidworks-->Same as Pro/E but I like the interface much better.
I currently used Solidworks as I have a free, legal copy of the student edition with full COSMOS capabilities.
Regarding a reverse engineering company, I recommend these folks:

A close friend of mine at Purdue had some cylinder head scans done by them about a year ago and was nothing but pleased.

Re: Need someone who can make CAD drawings
OK, thanks guys, I will probably contact the one Joe mentioned because they are local. I need to get this done asap, and I'm not sure when I could get out to ADC to get it scanned. Anyone have any other places locally that can do this? I'd like to get more then one quote.
