On a quest to learn..

So i have tried learning from books.. no way... its impossible for me.

So i am looking to learn how to do some car audio stuff, electrical and fiberglass along with mechanical..

I am curious if anyone has tried going to any local shops and asking or talking to them about letting you help them few hours/day or on weekends with some projects.

Or what are your toughts on my idea..
