Visit to AMS in Chicago
Evos Evos everywhere! I thought I had died & gone to heaven as I toured the facility of AMS Performance in Chicago yesterday! I was in town on business & thought I'd swing by & check out their shop. They were SUUUUPER busy so I did my best to stay out of their hair, but when they offered me a sneak peak of their new time attack car, I was all over it like a kid in a candy store. All of the custom fabrication done on this car is simply amazing. From the full-on widebody kit to every bit of piping from the 4" intake from the air filter to the tip of the exhaust, this car is fully sorted.
I also got a peak at their 9 sec (9.13 sec to be exact!) evo, their pimpin shop van, several nicely-sorted customer cars, and even their shop dog, Ikea. If you're ever bored and hanging around Arllington Heights, IL I definitly recommend swinging by.

Re: Visit to AMS in Chicago
I saw some pictures a while back of the build of AMS' road racing car and like everything that comes out of there, it's definitely impressive. I'm hoping they have it at Cordova this weekend.

Re: Visit to AMS in Chicago
I remember when that black evo was blue, stock looking, but gutted, and had the wing on the rear decklid, sitting out back, next to the silver fast one. then, all the dsm's around front, and some hondas on the side, most with ssr wheels..

It was always funny when I lived next to them before I moved. A couple times a week you could hear them playing with their evo on the dyno. I'm still glad I moved.

That time attack car took 3rd overall in the One Lap of America this year. I talked to Martin and his driver Jon when they were gearing up before One Lap at Road America. Both were super nice guys.

I'll also have to swing by that place when I go to HIN this year. I gotta check out all their nice cars.

This is actually a new car they just built; the car that did Road America was their drag car, and I'm pretty sure they spun a bearing during the event. This is their new, purpose-built time attack carwith (I think) a 4"+ wider track for optimal cornering stability. The thing is bad-ass to say the least!

They ran One Lap in 2005 with the silver drag car I beleive. They ran One Lap 2006 (and won the Winged Warrior event) with that black one in the pic (which is the one I thought you were refering to).

Do they have a 3rd car for time attacks?

Re: Visit to AMS in Chicago
Hrm, perhaps I misheard then. In that article, they mention the 2.3 stroker in it, but when I was there it had a 2.0 (no, I didn't measure it, that's what they told me!). Actually, now that I look back at that article, the 2006 event was in May, so maybe by 'new' they meant 'two months old' which really is 'new' by most car standards. Thanks for clarifying though Chris, I thought that they hadn't run it yet!

If you look around closely enough, there's pictures of the build-up on that black car. They did widen the stance with some serious fender flares, the build-up is pretty cool.
