"their children have been grounded."

http://www.startribune.com/462/story/505534.html

This is just plain twisted and cruel and I hope something that resembles justice other than being "grounded" comes of this. Who knows what they will grow up to be doing now.

Re: "their children have been grounded."

When I heard this on the news this morning, it was just unreal. After seeing the picture, and hearing how small the dog is, it disgusts me. The parents of these children should be held accountable, if their children are too young to punish. It's just not right.

Re: "their children have been grounded."

Call me a hippy if you will, but I love animals to death, and that right there is pathetic. I hope those kids get something more than a grounding.

But as far as holding the parents responsible, I don't really agree. I was in the military, and the thing I hated the most was me getting in trouble for someone else fucked up. I'm sure this is the last thing the parents expected when their kids said they were going out to ride their bikes. I was a pretty good kid, but I made some stupid mistakes when I was a minor and it was in no way a reflection of how my parents raised me. I did something wrong, and I got in trouble, and that's how I think it should be.

Re: "their children have been grounded."

But at ages 6 & 8, they shouldn't be out by themselves without a parent keeping an eye one them. If the kids want to go riding bikes, a parent should at least be outside, or keeping an eye on them to see where they are (make sure they aren't riding in the middle of the road, etc).

I'd send the parents and retarded kids to repeated conseling sessions plus require community service for all.

Re: "their children have been grounded."

Saw that on the news last night. Pretty pathetic. Do we have some future human killers on the up and coming? I would have never thought about doing that at when I was a kid. I guess I used to burn ants with a magnifying glass but I think that is a bit different than someones family pet.

Re: "their children have been grounded."

Grounded?! You've got to be fucking kidding me. What the hell is that teaching the kids? NOTHING. All I did when I got grounded is figure out how to make my parents life hell for grounding me.

And I completely agree with Jana. At 6 & 8, riding my bike ment I got to play anywhere that my dad could see from the house. How fucking irresponsible is it to let little kids go off and play like that. 8 maybe, but not 6. These are the ages in which your parents are supposed to teach you right from wrong, and isn't it pretty much common sense to teach your kids from the start that harming living creatures is wrong?! How sick and twisted are these kids going to be. I believe thats total irresponsiblility on the parents part.

It reminds me of a story I heard awhile back where two 8 year old boys kidnapped a three year old boy by coaxing him away from his mother in a store and leading him to train tracks. They then proceeded to beat and litterally torture him to death. The article told of all of the extremely graphic things they did to him and it just made me wonder where the hell the parents are and what the fuck they are teaching these kids. Have you no idea how to raise a fucking kid? If your kids are doing things like this, you obviously have no control over them, and I don't believe you should even have a kid then.

Just my opinion.

No offense but what else can you do to a 6 or 8 yr old? I agree that there should be further punishment but they are too young for the law. As a parent what would you do?

Re: "their children have been grounded."

They could atleast make their kids publically appologize to the dead puppys owners... only 1 kid apologized so far.

Sad what kids are doing these days...

^^That was a joke.

I do agree though that a public apology is necessary and definitely a long time being grounded.

I was grounded for a month once and never did what I did to get grounded ever ever again. I couldnt leave the yard, have people over, talk on the phone, and could only watch tv for a an hour with my mom once a day. It sucked ass, it was during the county fair too which is huge for a kid in Owatonna.

I learned my lesson though.

Re: "their children have been grounded."

My cousin who is probably right around 40 now has 4 children. The first 3 are absolutely wonderful, and his youngest is a total 180 from them. My cousin is an awesome father, very loving, mild mannered. His son has some sort of mental sickness or whatever, that causes him to be ungodly energetic and just straight up nuts sometimes. His son is probably 8 now, and has told me to suck his dick. I can promise you he didn't learn this from his dad, and he never would say anything like that around his dad. I'm just waiting for the day he goes and does something crazy like that, and I'm sure people will be like "Oh my god, his parents should pay because he's obviously been neglected." He gets more attention then any of the other brothers/sisters due to his mental situation. They do more for that kid, get him as much help as possible, then I could ever imagine doing. If he did something that made the paper though, I am sure there would be people who have never met my cousin, don't even know his name, who'd be the first ones screaming CHILD ABUSE.

Just wait until the liberals get ahold of this, it will be the puppy's fault in the end.

I guess the boys will lose their X-box for a couple of weeks.

Re: "their children have been grounded."

My dad beat the crap out of me when I did something wrong. Beating your kids is pretty much required and it has happened that way since the dawn of humans. in the past 40 years it has become unacceptable because its true that some parents went too far in punishing their kids.

but look at me, im fine *twitch* I know good, i know evil, and I know where i stand and I know what happens when I cross the line.

nowdays kids have no form of pain in response to them being bad, therefore they dont fear any punishments, and drastically effects their ability to remain on the good side.

Ill be dammed if that is gonna happen to my lil'brother. where is he? im gonna go punch the crap outta him....

Re: "their children have been grounded."

Hell my old man would have KICKED MY ASS for a Month!

But you can't do that cause, the parents can't discipline their own kids correctly anymore, without going to jail themselves.

This shameless action shows just how hardened the hearts of todays kids truley are becoming.

Just watch the news, it's all coming to a head......

Re: "their children have been grounded."

I udnerstand what you mean about punishment. Obviously you cant send an 8 year old to jail. But if I were a parent, I'd make him deal with his wrong doings. I'd make him help take care of a cute innocent little puppy. The public apology is a good idea to. But you also need to teach them why their actions were wrong. You can't just slap them on the hands say "bad boy" and hope they understand because they aren't to that point yet. So, I'd show him that you can't just do something like that to something so small and why. I would ground him, obviously the little shit wouldn't be doing ANYTHING for awhile. But to what extent can you ground a 6 year old? My sister used to get grounded all the time and she'd be out playing by the end of the day.

Brandon: There are exceptions to every rule. I know plenty of kids just like your cousins kid. I also know plenty of kids with really fucked up home lives who are turning out very well considering the circumstances.

Re: "their children have been grounded."

Those kids are fucked up, something needs to happen to set kids like that straight and I have no idea what could fix something like that. I can't even imagine doing something like that at the age of 25.... I have no idea how fucked up you and or your parents would have to be to be able to kill a puppy at the age of 6-8.

It's people like that, that grow up to kill gay people or people they just don't agree with. If you have no problem killing a puppy at the age of 6.... I dont' see why it would be a problem killing someone/something at the age of 18+.

Exactly. These kids should be put into therapy as well.
