So i opened up a bad wastegate....

I didnt know if this really qualified to put under forced induction section.

Well i was bored today and decided to take apart an old wastegate that was laying around. I thought I would post some pics for anyone interested about whats inside them. This is a stocl dsm 14b wastegate, i was hoping to learn if i could modify them somehow to improve their boost holding capability just for laughs.

Anyways what i found after grinding away the outer folded edge was:

1. Obviously the diapram is blown

2. The spring is in 4 pieces, wich could be the cause of the diaphram going bad.

I think there is a possibility that you could seal the bottom half and then add boost to help hold it shut at higher levels, but i havent thought about the negative effects too hard yet.
