CV Shafts

Hey Chris! Can you look up two CV shafts and see if they are the same? I assume they'd have the same part numbers if they are the same.

Could you please look of a Front Passanger CV shaft for a 1991 or 1992 Galant VR4

Could look up the Front Passanger CV shaft for a 1992 Eclipse GSX.

I'm curious if they are the same...

I put that GVR4 tranny into my 92 talon that I bought from Tony, and when the CV shaft is installed there is about 1/8" play when it's in correctly. It almost seems as if the c clip was 1/8" closer to the Passanger wheel it would lock into place correctly. I just want to see if there is any difference in the axels, if not, that means the front diff is f-ed.

Thanks!

Kevin Swalchick.

Re: CV Shafts

I just checked Napa's online site, and the axel part numbers there are the same for right front CV shaft for awd galants (auto and manual) and awd talons/eclipses (auto and manual). I had always believed the CV shafts were identical.

I'll stop by tomorrow.

Re: CV Shafts

The diff is messed up. My shafts work fine in another GVR4 I just tried tonight. Thanks Nick for all the help tho. haha I just wasted a lot of money buying a broken tranny .
