Brainerd Int. Raceway Memorial Day Weekend

There is an extremely strong (99.9999999%) chance that we (NASA and SSAC-Snow States Autosports Club) will be holding a road race along with a HPDC(High Performance Driving Clinic) or in other words one of the days would be a lapping day. We will be looking for people to help work the event (corner workers and such). I will be up there camping out. I think the first day and a half will be the big boys out there playing. Then they will have the lapping/clinic day. It will be a Saturday-Monday deal. So if you don't have plans for that weekend and want to watch fast cars out on the road race course, come on out and join us.

Just for a little background of SSAC. They are a subsidiary club of the Land 'O Lakes region of SCCA. They are not tied to SCCA, LOL owns them, kinda. We formed Snow States Autosports Club to fill in the void that SCCA left when they gave up on rallying and road racing at BIR. It is a membership club with the regional perks of SCCA. Basically with a membership to SSAC, you would receive the newsletter and be eligible for regional championship points. If you need anymore info abut us, PM me or post up here about it. Or you can check out the SCCA booth at the autoshow coming up in a few weeks.

Here is a clip from BIR. You get one lap chasing and passing a Vette in a RX-7 just to chase down a Lamborghini and pass it on the straight-away. Click Here for in-car cam.

Is there any special qualifications or licensing needed to go out and run at this event? Also can you have a passenger? Looks like a good opportunity to do some low boost tuning of the AEM and run 150mph for the hell of it. I'd really like to hit it with some roadrace tires once I have some roadcourse experience and have my car fully dialed in suspension and tuning wise.

I'll get more info shortly. I'm not sure how they are structuring it. This is my first time out there.

Also looking for Cost. The major problem with events like this is typically the high expense. I thought typically 1 day events where 200-250 a 3 day event would be what $600-800

Re: Brainerd Int. Raceway Memorial Day Weekend

I think each portion of it is about $300 (the road race and the driving clinic being separate from each other). Not sure on the exact price. I'll find that out at the next meeting. But for the amount of track time, it's invaluable.

I am only going there to work and watch. I can't race yet. But they will have the vintage cars out there, american iron (and the other that I believe is called american iron extreme), some of the smaller imports and I think the formula fords will be out there too. It'll be an awesome time and a hell of a party!!!!! We're camping there.

Don't forget to add in pads, brake fluid, race gas, lodging, food. It's worth it though!
