3rd cylendar issue?

the first time i blew my motor it would only hold 30% of air capasity in the 3rd cylendar and the secound time i spun a bearing on the 3rd cylendar could this be linked to a certain issue or may be a shitty build? running a 16g 3 inch turbo back exhaust and no tuner stock boost and it blew after 100 miles of rebuild secound time first time had 169k on original motor as far as i know

Re: 3rd cylendar issue?

Shitty rebuild and the fact you don't have a tune is definitely not helping.

If you build motors as good as you type, maybe its time for a virgin stocker Kia even.

Re: 3rd cylendar issue?

A spun bearing has nothing to do with poor leakdown test results. If you certainly never beat on the car (never hit boost, no revs beyond what is required to shift) then it was a problem with the build.

Re: 3rd cylendar issue?

If you didn't boost it, then it probably isn't a tune issue. Could be an oil pump problem, oil pickup problem, build problem, bearing problem, or some other random or freak thing.

Re: 3rd cylendar issue?

Sure it can, a spun bearing would prevent oil getting up top, causing cylinder wall scoring. Theres obviously an oil starvation problem somewhere.

Re: 3rd cylendar issue?

I'd say lean a little harder on whoever built it. Just because they didn't sell you the bearings doesn't mean they didn't have to check for tolerances properly. If there was a problem with the bearings, they should have caught it during assembly, simple as that.

Ok seriously, enough of this. Capitalization, proper punctuation, and proper spelling. These are part of the rules of this site and they are regularly enforced, for good reason.

Re: 3rd cylendar issue?

If I was you I would take a good look at the oil jet for that piston. Also you should tell us how the main crank bearings look like, the one that would be suspect would be the fourth cap back starting at the timing belt side. It feeds the journal for your #3 rod bearings.

Re: 3rd cylendar issue?

i am sorry that i suck so bad at grammer and spelling... but i scrapped the block and bought a different motor instead. was just wondering if it could be a sensor or wire issue or possible an injector?

Re: 3rd cylendar issue?

You're all over the place man! How could it be a injector or wiring issue, is there other problems with the car? Did it overheat? Try logging it when its got a fresh motor, check oil pressure, etc. Due diligence goes a long way!

So does capitalization (especially after being warned twice already). Try it, the [Shift] key is big and fun!

Re: 3rd cylendar issue?

No it did not over heat and for some reason the battery will die over night? I don't think that would be linked to it.

Sounds like your car has issues man.

Take it to a shop and have them fix it. Or if you want to learn and most likely have to keep repairing the car constantly for the next year, try doing the work yourself.
