Re: Project Lex
Yeah I lnow it takes some time. But these bubbles are like an inch or so long. Anyway I know if they don't go away they will fix it. And 100% agree on doing business with people that show you appreciation

Bubbles are normal, the water and air will evaporate. If they are still there after a few days then let them know.
Looks so much better with tintz!

Re: Project Lex
I didn't know that's what you drove. What's all done to it? I plan on swinging down there on Thursday over lunch, maybe I can check it out!

It's a 2013 FR-S Base with an unequal length header, e85/tune, wheels, tires, pads, fluids, coilovers, aligned proper with adjustable arms and that's about it. Rather stock really. But heaps better than a truly stock car in both sound, feel, handling capacity, and torque. I still get 28.5mpg average on corn, with 205whp and only weigh 2700lb. Now with regard to more power there are literally about 20 different FI kits out there if you want for cheap to make up to around 400whp stock block. That said I'm waiting to put a 2UR engine in it eventually but for now it's a killer daily that has proven extremely reliable after hours and hours of track use and almost 20k miles a year.
Looking forward to you stopping by! It's not the be all end all car in my mind, but it used to be a car I absolutely hated until I drove one. On paper or picture they might not do much for you, but ownership has proven different for me anyway.
Your SC looks great btw! I saw a red one driving around with the plate "92SC300" and it was MINT. I assume you probably know the owner.

Re: Project Lex
Hmm I actually don't think I know that SC. I'm an admin of the Midwest SC group and I don't recognize the plates. I'll have to ask around.
Damn that 2UR motor sounds sweet. Never really heard about it but googled it. Would be very cool! Dare I ask why not go the JZ route as they are fairly cheap and abundant?
Yeah see ya Thursday then. Forecast shows storms so I won't be in the fun car unfortunately.

Haha I imagine your car in the rain is an animal. I would love to, especially with the 1JZ non VVTI being a very common engine used by the guys in back shop who drift well. The main issue being weight really. As well as using a good trans. I will be building my transmission with all carbon synchros with Jacks here this fall, to help raise the power limit ceiling and also treat myself on the daily aggressive driving and road course. I can't remember the super strong inline aluminum 4 cylinder Toyota engine they had a special name for that was factory turbo and came in some car we didn't get, basically a unicorn engine but some guy swapped his FRS with one of those and it was a glorious way to blow 20k I suppose lol.

Re: Project Lex
1JZ VVTi I think would be a really cool swap. VVTi over just that last maybe 2 years has really started to catch on. And the 1JZGTE's can be had for much better pricepoint than the 2JZGTE's, so very cool swap! I personally love the 2JZGE's because nobody wants them so they are so damn cheap.
Transmissions, yeah I hear ya. People ask me all the time about how cheap these are to build. They are pretty easy to make power on but there are 2-3 somewhat high dollar items that you just can't avoid. 1) Transmission, 2) Standalone (no stock ECU solutions like with Mitsus), and 3) Differential.

Re: Project Lex
Dropped off mine and another local's 8.8's to get rebuilt. They will be completely rebuilt with all new bearings/seals/gear-set from Ford Performance. The LSD we chose were from Wavetrac (supposed to be best of the best w/ legit lifetime warranty), which we got from Dogwhistle on here, thank again for hooking us up and letting me take your go-cart for a quick spin . Should be done in a week or two, then basically just waiting on Grannas Racing to send the swap kit!

Re: Project Lex
Got the diff back today. All buttoned up with the new guts! Also my old helmet (Snell M2005) apparently expired this year per NHRA regulations. So with Proving Grounds coming up, I grabbed myself a new Snell M2015 helmet so I should be ready to rock!
Waiting on the kit from Grannas Racing at this point. Should be here soon so I'm going to start removing the current rear end and so I'm ready to throw the new setup in as soon as it gets here!

Well that anti-lag video sure sounded violent! Definitely could trigger some snowflakes with that

Re: Project Lex
Got the front bumper with new lip re-painted. Same guy who painted the car a couple years back, does great work for a great price!

Re: Project Lex
Looks amazing! Mind if I ask how much the bumper and lip cost to paint? Thinking I might do a repaint on my front end as well.

Re: Project Lex
I like the lip, looks good!
On another note, are there some center caps you could put on the wheels?
