Man nice pile of upgrades you have there! When you bring the car down for the belt investigation, bring down the rest, most of that stuff should be an easy install.

Will do Shawn, I am guessing towards the end of March I'll be calling you to set something up!
I can't wait to get all this stuff installed. So many little things I have neglected...time to do them.

Re: Dave's Evo X Build/The Life of Dave blog
Spent about 30 mins yesterday unraveling serp belt from one of my pulley's. Then I grabbed my battery off the tender, threw it in the car and it fired right up! Yay.
It's ready to go to Shawns place this Saturday to figure out WTF is up with the pulley's and put a new belt on.
Can't wait to start having fun with it again.

Don't wheels come with hub caps? You should have gone to the junkyard and gotten some ones that fit off an old car.

Pretty sure you won't find RPF-1 "hub caps" in a junkyard.

Dave,
Those look really nice. Are those caps alloy or plastic? Looking for some replacement caps for the rota's since the plastic rota caps melted and fell off the last time at the track. Whoops!

You are like the 4th person I have talked to that has had their rota caps melt off haha.
As for mine, I am quite certain they are metal of some kind. I looked at them for about two seconds last night when I got home. I am going to throw them on today after work so I will confirm then. I'll have them on when I come over this weekend, so you can see if you like them.

Yea I held off for almost 2 years because I couldn't stand the idea of spending that much on them, but tax return money was a solid this year so I figured what the hell, I want the clean look.

Re: Dave's Evo X Build/The Life of Dave blog
Shawn, looks like these are metal. They are so light I am guessing aluminum? Shit if I know haha
Anyway, put insurance back on the car yesterday...gonna go cruising tonight after bowling. Probably just around the block as I don't want to rape the serp belt any more than needed so I can drive it to Shawns this weekend.

Doesn't sound like a DSM, didn't you change from stock pulleys?

Yes as other people seem to be running them without issues. They are metal vs. plastic. The plastic OEM ones are known to wear out in 30k miles or so and break off bits and snap belts.
I tried being proactive and changing them while the motor was out...it backfired.
DSM's don't have problems? I know my car does.

All cars can have problems, esp. if a person is changing something on them. Usually the risk of problems can usually go up.
Its just annoying people can't do things correctly and blame it on the car.
That's nuts they use plastic OEM, where do you get metal ones? some company made them? are they lightweight or overdrive?
Good thing being proactive, it could save you from being stuck on teh side of the road.
