DSMs: Unicorns or Leprechauns?
Do DSMs even exist? Have they all met the scrap pile or Steve Hill's garage, never to be seen again?
Did Rick Shindley start "fixing" cars again? (Just kidding old man who will never see this)
Is HORT even based in Hopkins anymore???
Besides the cookout, I've seen 1 DSM running and driving during 2014. And it was a 2g. :X

Re: DSMs: Unicorns or Leprechauns?
I've seen quite a few last summer. Some were even running AND fast!
But I'm really surprised these piles sell for any more than $500. Especially since 99% are someone's hacked project now.

Re: DSMs: Unicorns or Leprechauns?
Pretty rare to see a nice DSM anymore...seems like I see more non-turbos than turbo models, and they're all beat to hell. I did see a clean 2G GST a few weeks ago, and a 1G last week.

Money and time. Not enough of it. Plus school. What a bitch. This doesn't help much either.
If time wasn't an issue as well as money I'd have a few clean 2gs, a nice 1gb and an AWD Mirage ready to rock.

Re: DSMs: Unicorns or Leprechauns?
It would be nice to have a way to find out if the DOT can provide the number of DSMs (of whatever collections of year, make, model, and maybe trim) that are still being renewed. I DD mine all year but of course I treat it like none other and am meticulous about keeping it mechanically sound and for most people that's too much. Getting them running isn't even that freaking hard, just gotta suck it up and put your head down and get it done. Keeping them running is all about maintenance like any vehicle, however much like the demise of other imports of the era, the way people drive them is brutal and of course if every time you took your brand new econobox and beat on it, it would have issues too. Especially down the road. Maturity is tough to find in some modified car crowds and I think the DSM crowd is one of them. I've learned lessons and done many stupid things to, and with my car, but it didnt turn me into being a hillbilly just removing a wastegate or welding a turbo onto mom's nonturbo spyder.

Re: DSMs: Unicorns or Leprechauns?
My 2g is usually hiding in the garage. I have only been driving it on weekends due to carpooling to work. It will be safely tucked under its cover before any salt hits the roads.

Re: DSMs: Unicorns or Leprechauns?
Got my 2g track car being built. And now have a 2g gsx i daily and i treat them both the same. Wash every other day and wax. Maintain the motors like they should be and do everything to spec. No cheap shit goes on my cars.

Re: DSMs: Unicorns or Leprechauns?
You just need to open your eyes a bit. I've dailied my car all summer for the last few years. I just don't attend many events anymore.
I do agree, I don't see many 1g's anymore, I still don't care much for 2g's.

Re: DSMs: Unicorns or Leprechauns?
You just need to get yourself another 1g with an auto, 2.4 and a big ass turbo and rule the streets.

Naaa, my old car morphed into basically doing that right now, with its new owner, Wade AKA NIGHT-TOUCHER aka Mondale
I just like these damn 1Gs.
