Aww man. Strange? I would have said "unique".

I vote for one day. The lenght seems a bit long, but thats just my opinion. After waiting all day in the hot sun, it starts to get to you. Maybe shorten it by one hour?

That's what she said. And strange is awesome because it's different. I think the swap meet is a good idea, but it should start at 3pm, so no parts infront of your car until 3pm, or whenever the voting is concluded.

Re: All Mitsu Cookout or a full weekend?

I have been planning on going to the cookout but haven't made it to one yet. A suggestion could be to have vendors attend? Might be able to get some good deals from them and would have more for people to do. (this may already be happening?)

I vote just the cookout. It's summer time, and I know I have tons of plans, all the time, during the summer. Dedicating an entire weekend for me would just be too much.

1 day, car show style. Maybe setup a side where people can bring tables and do a swap meet over there, AWAY from the cars.

The dyno day may bring in more people, but it really makes for along weekend imho. I might try to get out the cookout this year, I've always had stuff going on the last few years the day of .

Why would someone wanna be away from the cars trying to sell stuff? It's nice to see a car and be able to talk to the owner a bit. I like with the parts for sale right by the car, it would make no sense at all to make it basically a car show and a separate swap meet over on the side, it would take some of the fun and socializing out of it.

Yeah except it is hard to see and judge a car when there is a table full of used crap in front of it.

Hence my idea that works for both of you, have the swap meet begin after the car show ends. Or maybe just not have an official selling/trading plan, but just let people do as they wish. If their car gets fewer points because of a pile of garbage sitting in front of it, so be it. All I know is I have a good chance at winning 1st place in the starquest catagory this year.

Chances are I won't even have a DSM by the time this rolls around, but I'll still be there regardless!

Re: All Mitsu Cookout or a full weekend?

i agree with the point about plenty of other dyno days, but i enjoyed the cruise to the drive-in diner the day before the car show. make sure it is on a weekend that works for most. if some miss out cuz of other stuff then so be it. also, i understand that some people came to the show but didn't pay to show their cars, yea you suck whoever you are. curt works hard to get everything to run smoothly. so i think we gotta do something to make sure that doesn't happen again. oh btw bitches, MITSUS only!!

Even if I just drive into the lot, park, walk around and look at cars for 30 mins, and leave?

Our dyno is only a few blocks away from either of the usual Cookout sites, if you want to do anything the same day. I am not sure of a smooth way to handle it though.

Re: All Mitsu Cookout or a full weekend?

Just a little update....... I'm planning on having just the Cookout. I'm planning on doing it on Sunday, August 23rd from 11am to 4pm again. (the non-diehards can come late if its too long for them)

There will be a couple of Saturday evening events for the out-of-towners. Probably dinner and a bonfire. But no dyno day. As far as the "swap meet" idea. You can sell stuff at the Cookout, but there will not be any advertised swap meet. As some people have noted, displaying used stuff in front of your car kind of distracts from the car show theme, and I have no desire to make a dedicated space for the swap meet.

I'll make an official thread about the All Mitsu Cookout soon. I need to finalize a few things first.

Thanks,
Curt

Curt I think you made some great choices. I understand the need for some events to keep the out of towners happy and incentive to come.

Can we close the poll so that it doesn't keep getting bumped? It seems like Curt has already made his decision.
