Buddy's extremely clean 92 1g
A few of you remember at MAPs fall dyno day last year seeing this clean 92 White TSi AWD. Back then it was in 100% stock form, not even free mods done to it. He is Sr. Kipp on here, doesn't post much but will probably start a thread in the Project forum. He bought it from the original owner who kept records for everything including a 20 some page little pad he had made that logged the mileage from what gas station including the price per gallon dating all the way back to 92 back when he bought it new! Here is the kicker of it all, I found this car on Fagslist and wasn't in the market at the time and suggested my friend to go take a look at it, he did and bought it on the spot for $ 2700 cash! Only 95k miles on it and has almost all the options that you would want on a 1g including the non-ABS brakes! Well since he bought it we've added:
- Free mods (star silencer removal, snout on air can removal, BCS pill removal)
- 18" ADR GT Sports (which only weigh 1 lbs. each rim/tire more than the stock 16" rims/tires)
- a very ported EVO 3 o2 housing
- RRE EVO3 flanged DP
- Apexi' N-1 catback
- K-Sport Coilovers all dialed in w/ Jeff the Alignment Guy alignment done
Now we're moving on to the power upgrades, Driveshaft Shop Alum. shaft, Swaintech coated FP exhaust manifold, Evo 3 16G (?) with Swaintech coating on the hotside, EVO MAS, bigger FP, Injectors and a DB tune. Haven't fully committed to the EVO 3 16G yet, looking for opinions for other wide powerband turbos.

That car is fucking nice, I was drooling all over it.
Good buy on the DS, please do a dyno test with it, maybe you can get a local shop to sponsor it.
Please take your time with this car it is gorgeous i would trade my car for this one.

Re: Buddy's extremely clean 92 1g
^^ I think FP was fuel pump, not a regulator.
Anyway, nice looking car, another vote for e316g.

Re: Buddy's extremely clean 92 1g
An FPR isn't necessarily pointless. I kept blowing out the diaphragm in stock FPR's with my 255. The issue went away as soon as I got an Aeromotive unit.

Re: Buddy's extremely clean 92 1g
The 18s only added 4 pounds total over the stock 16s w/ tires on both sets. Figured that was a small enough weight difference for the benefit of a low profile, much wider tire, and look quite good.
All the 3s guys both local and on the national board love their carbon fiber drive shafts, and with as much of a fat pig the 3s is any weight loss helps. It will help across the entire powerband as it shaves 40% weight over the stock setup (according to DSShop) The aluminum will also absorb some of the stock during launches.
So far every component that we've removed & added we have weighted and put in a spreadsheet. So far with the very few things done, it's lost 25 lbs over stock. Looking to get about 200 lbs. total out of it without loosing the creature comforts. (lightweight battery, race front bumper, carbon fiber hood, the aluminum drive shaft, RRE modified lightened / balanced flywheel, anything else? ) With more focus on weight loss from the middle to the front of the car, for a better balance, maybe see what the corner weights are.

Re: Buddy's extremely clean 92 1g
Looks good! I love the idea of a lighter driveshaft.
Go for an Evo IX fuel pump and Evo VIII/IX fuel injectors to go along with that EvoIII 16G.
I would also recommend against the SwainTech coating as it fairly common for it to flake off after only a few months. Use Bob @ MAP for all your porting/coating needs; his port work is beautiful and his coatings are top quality.

I would at least opt for the 255 pump, they aren't expensive at all for a brand new one. Otherwise, agreed on the rest

Re: Buddy's extremely clean 92 1g
I think it's just slightly more than a 190.
