Sorry to hear you won't be racing at PG this weekend, are you going to come up to watch/party anyway? I'm sure you could even hitch a ride with someone if you didn't want to drive. I will have a seat open if you're available by 3:30 or so.
I have considered putting a line with the valve on it as well. I am still debating it, we will see how creative I want to get when it comes time to fix it.

PG is more about time/money over my car. I think the car is running well enough to do it but I am way too stretched financially. I need to start saving money and there are countless things on my house that need attention as well. So until I catch up on chores and money I am just letting the evo sit in the garage basically.

Honestly, I have even been thinking about selling the evo again lately. Mainly just because its such a huge amount of money just sitting there that I don't feel I use it enough. If I did that I would be able to actually do landscaping and a deck and fix up my yard and house and pay off a bit of debt. It's nothing I would need to do but I think it would be a smarter investment lol. But then I think how much money I would lose on the car and go back the other way.

If I sold the evo I'd sell the kizashi too and get a semi fun normal car. I'd probably get a WRX or something and actually have a goal/plan. Or maybe a ralliart. Or maybe go semi classy and do a BMW or something who knows. So many ideas bouncing around in my head I don't know what to do.

For now I am just pacing myself and still plan to keep the car. I still want to get a few solid passes at the drag strip, so until that happens i am keeping it

I think I saw you in the Kizashi on 65 the other day. Is your head shaved? I better not take you for a ride in the 335, we might have another convert :P

Valve at the end of the hose would be just about as simple. The valve I have is just 90 degree 1/4NPT to 1/4 compression hose. You could use the same valve, along with soemthing like a simple NPT-Compression fitting at the can and put the valve at the end.

It's really not much work at all, and would save you lots of time in the long run. And maybe $20 in parts.

Re: Dave's Evo X Build/The Life of Dave blog

For comparison sake I was running consistent low 11's (11.0 - 11.1) when I was trapping right around 137. I'm obviouslly not a pro at the track, my area's for improvement were the launch/60' and nailing 2nd gear clean. I did finally run a 10.9 though. So if you're trapping 135, even at a noob track level you should still be able to hit very low 11's. Get your 60' dialed in and I'd think mid 10's would be achievable at some point.

Then again I'm comparing my DSM experience with your X, so who knows.

I did something like this years ago and it was the best thing ever, but you will actually be putting the money into a lot more than I could and then when you do come back to a weekend car it will be a lot better than your X.

oh BMW ftw! E46 M3 would be perfect or newer one like Jet's would be pimp.

Good luck in whatever you decide to do, but I'd say try and get some numbers on it before you sell it. I know a bit of me wishes I would of with my car.

335i will smoke a M3 with just a couple of mods (even around a track). M3 is more exclusive and cooler though. M3 is very difficult to mod too. Let me know if you ever want a ride Murlo!

Sure thing, I'll have to bug sometime for one.

Problem with a newer BMW is I would basically be trading two cars for one and not really have any extra money Especially if I went with an M3, I would need to get a slightly used one then I think.

Anyway...for now the Evo stays lol...I will just let it play out a bit and see where it all goes.

Can I get a ride?

I know it would smoke it, but would be cheaper is what I was thinking and still decent power.

Re: Dave's Evo X Build/The Life of Dave blog

Just posted this on evox forums:

So, I think I am parting some of my car out. Going to post up a FS thread this weekend.

I have more debt right now than I am comfortable with (t4 conversion cost me 2k more than I figured it would after all was said and done) and I need some revenue.

I first was going to sell my whole car but that is a tough sale I would lose a TON of money and probably regret it. So I came up with a good idea (I think), downgrade.

I am going to part out the MAP t4 kit, wally 400 pump and FIC2150's to start. I am then going to take insurance off teh evo and store it for a few months to recoup. I honestly haven't fully recovered from the two engine builds two years ago in a row. They were close to 20k and I had to borrow and owe like 600 on those still so I want to get rid of that and my CC debt.

My plan is going to be move to a smaller setup to mitigate my risk as well. I am thinking an Ef2 or 2.5, probably the two. I have even considered the stock turbo as well and go for some stock turbo records and maybe start doing some other forms of driving (road course).

Just to put it out there, I love my car and the current setup, it is beast. Great tune from Baka, great setup from MAP. But I am starting to get a bit sick of spending kilobucks on this thing every year lol. I could've paid half my mortgage off almost, well 1/3, if I invested the evo money there.

I am just to the point where there are too many other things in life that I need to start putting some attention/money there.

I will still be around with this method (not selling the evo) and I will still have a bad ass setup, just not uber. I will also run a much lower risk of blowing stuff up not pushing a 2.2L motor to 800HP haha. And honestly with how strapped I am right now I haven't even wanted to drive the car because if it breaks I can't fix it.

So bottom line, time to be smarter with my financials and wait until I have a better cash reserve before going a bit bigger.

I will probably be looking for a stock mani and a few other items (ID1000's) in 2 months or so but for now I need cash.

The evo will continue to move forward, just much slower lol.

Anyone wanna help pull some parts off soon?

Time to dial things back a bit.

But yea, if the stress of breaking your car outweighs the enjoyment you receive from driving it, then it's time to re-think the game plan.

Enjoy it for a few months as-is and tear it apart this fall.
