10.5 hotside for Evo 8?
What can someone tell me about upgrading this on an Evo? I have an 05 Evo but when I look at the product online, it says only things about 03 - 04...
Either this, or can anyone point me in the direction to where I can get information on this? It sounds like a pretty decent upgrade.

Hey nick, You already have the 10.5 hotside. It came on the 05-06. The 06 has a bigger compressor housing as well. So you could swap a evo 9 turbo in there really easily, just pull of your compressor housing and slide the IX in.

evolutionm.net has a some for sale, your probably going to have to buy the whole turbo but then you can just give the hotside to kerry or just take your whole turbo out and put that one in. Either way will work.

Yuppers that is a pretty straight-forward swap, I did it on my car, but if you don't have an SS o2 housing yet you should do that at the same time, possibly a ported exhaust manifold as well.
Just to confirm, all 05's did indeed come with a 10.5 hotside from the factory, but verifying the part number on your particular turbine housing is not a bad idea since you bought the car used.

Good call. I will check that for sure When I put the Megan O2 housing on or what is this "SS O2 housing"?
What is the "name" of the evo 8 turbo? evo 9 turbo? Like i see this 16g (big, small) 20g, FP colors, etc. What is what? This turbo stuff is new to me.

Re: 10.5 hotside for Evo 8?
They are all 16G turbos, just different variations between the years and trims. If you are going to get one turbo just get one from an Evo 9 and you'll be set, they are the "biggest" of them all from 03 to 06. It's not a direct swap, you will need to buy a few parts that you can get from Mitsubishi. I did it recently and it's not very difficult as long as you are prepared.

Awesome! I liek the sounds of that. If anyone sees any for sale at a reasonable price, let me know! Does anyone know if there is like stores or dealers that sell them? Like MAP?

Re: 10.5 hotside for Evo 8?
good used 9 turbos can be had for $400 or so. I'm think I got $250 or $300 for my evo8/10.5 turbo so the final cost is really not that high if you make sure you get a good condition unit that hasn't been around the block too much
