Re: Rebuilding motor, need suggestions
Took a look today, results are kinda screwy:
Compression: 130 110 86 121
Leakdown: 18% 23% 33% 20%
This is using my cheap harbor freight leak down tester, I usually remove about 10% from the leak down results.
Edit forgot to add: leak down on #3 was *really* hard to tell where it was going. Maybe rings but sound in the valve cover was ever-so-slight.

Re: Rebuilding motor, need suggestions
What he ^ said. Thanks again scheides, I think I may go with with we talked about just getting it tuned and go from there seeing what happens.
But everyones feedback on my cars results are very welcome as I am no expert.

Re: Rebuilding motor, need suggestions
Honestly I would get something done soon, it probably won't last very long and when it goes it will probably take out more. I hate waiting for an engine to go, then you have to deal with metal shavings in the system or it may even punch a hole in the block.

I agree with jet. Do something before it let's go. It's so much more hassle to deal with.

Re: Rebuilding motor, need suggestions
I think im just going to get it on the dyno in the next two weeks to see if it puts any power down. Since it doesnt burn oil and yet still runs and drives like a champ.

Re: Rebuilding motor, need suggestions
Wagamon's has one too, but I would recommend the other 2 first.

Re: Rebuilding motor, need suggestions
I am not saying necessarily to use MAP, but good machine work is important. Just make sure to use a quality place.
Good luck.

Re: Rebuilding motor, need suggestions
Yeah I hear ya. I actually am just going to look for a 2.0 rebuild with standard pistons and have tc automotive in Mankato clean and prep the block etc. I dont need a 2.3 like I wanted so a 2.0 will save me a hassle and some $. Plus I could always just rev the 2.0 higher so If I wsnted I still could do a bigger turbo. Loss of spool but gain of a longer band.

Re: Rebuilding motor, need suggestions
I'll help you. And this will be the final approach you must decide tonight. Do you want high revving where the turbo kicks in at 5000+ or do you want a stock like feel torque monster?

That is a good question, I'd say a 2.3 would certainly take care of it. Or you can get a new 2.0 block if you desire that setup more but the 2.0's are getting way more expensive every second
