Tire Go Boom

Driving down 694 this morning at 430am to pick my sister up to take her to the airport and BOOM Front right tire pretty much exploded. Pulled over thinking, oh its just a tire, whatever. went out to look... I was soooo WRONG...

The tire took out the fender, front bumper fascia, running board, inner fender liner, ABS harness, and messed up the rim a bit

Front Bumper:

Fender Bottom:

Fender Top

Running Board:

And Tire:

Don't really know what happened. Tires may just be too old. We made it to Indiana/Kentucky last weekend just fine pulling a trailer. I guess I'm glad that it was the front not the back.

snaps! those are quite scary. good thing nothing else got damaged. I remember seeing a semi truck tire blowing up right near the highway, that was loud.

Re: Tire Go Boom

I had a tire blow on a caviler once and it bent the subframe, took out the fender, and messed up the inner wheel well. Insurance totaled the car out.

Re: Tire Go Boom

The F350's are notorious for bad ball joints which probably damaged the tire over time. I'd go through it to protect your new tires.

Re: Tire Go Boom

Wow, that's some carnage. Glad you're okay though. Blowing out tires on a big truck like that is no joke.

Re: Tire Go Boom

I took it to two body shops. $2703.56 at one and $2975.23 at another. All that from a tire.

Re: Tire Go Boom

That is some nasty carnage from just a tire blowing. Did you have the tire filled with hydrogen or something?
