Well, i was going into boost, i was accelerating onto 94, nothing crazy though, not sure i would even call it full throttle. It was roughly 3k rpms and boost was just hitting, then boom.

Definitely not full throttle. My first time in a car with that kind of power, though...I was sitting there thinking 'god, I can't believe my car will be like this'. Was damn nice while she lasted.

Shitty dude. I'm sorry to hear about your loss. Any plans on what you're gonna do? I'm sure long/short blocks aren't cheap.

Re: Dave's Evo X Build

Not sure yet, i have a few emails out right now to MAP and i called DB. I am hoping MAP wants to develop a crate motor or something for the X, that way we could split costs, but that might be a dream.

First thing, i am praying just the shortblock got damaged. I talked with Ryan Gates and when his motor went down he said just his shortblock was damaged.

Otherwise another option that is looking tempting is this...

Re: Dave's Evo X Build

I honestly don't see any reason to go with a Buschur engine when there are two very capable engine building shops locally (MAP & DB). Better to have one shop do all the work than mix & match for something like this. That way if you have an issues there will be no question who to go to.

It might be cheaper. The buschur stg 3 block is pretty dang cheap compared to other prices i have been seeing.

I am by no means set on anything right now. I am exploring my options right now. For all i know, i sell the car and go completely different route. But I agree with you, i would love to keep it local.

Don't sell it, you'll take a bath on it and be pissed off forever. Just save up and get it fixed, you'll be 100x more happy!

Probably true, i only owe like 10k on it now so I could get out of it free and clear selling it, but there is so much labor money into and my own labor i really don't want to.

I will probably build it, that is my goal right now. I just need to figure out pricing.

Price and turn-around time are two factors that might work against a local shop (sales tax is a bitch when you're spending kilobucks). I know he's already talking to MAP. They know how to do a stage 5 head now!

That Buschur engine looks like kind of a waste. I'm sure the local shops could hook you up for cheaper than that. Have you found out exactly what failed? any educated guesses as to what failed? maybe a rod bolt let go?

Actually it appears the rod let go from the wrist pin on the piston strangely. All i know is that the rod went through the block and until the motor comes out, i won't know anything else.

Turn around time on this isn't going to be a factor, i will prefer a slower build in order to save and make payments on it!

It is quite possible that it seized on the crank side before the wrist pin let go. It must be hard determining root cause given the amount of damage that will occur in a fraction of a second...

If you are in no rush then you have a lot more options. Get your center diff pins done and whatever else you want to do while it is apart.

I plan on it Well the diff pins.

Obviously i want the car back asap, but this is too big/expensive of a job to expect quickly.

Yeah, this is one of those six month deals. I imagine it could take a lot longer if you don't keep things on track, tho.

I would venture 3-4 months, but 6 isn't out of the ordinary probably. Mind as well be 8 if that's the case or 12 since 6 puts me into winter!

Re: Dave's Evo X Build

I was just thinking in terms of the race car that DB did a full build on. It'll depend on where you have it done, of course. Small shops take longer...no way around that.

I got your email sir and will be responding shortly We've already built a 4B11T (the white MR) and I'm certain we will be cheaper than anything Buchur Racing offers

There will certainly be no comparison on customer service...Buschur builds good stuff but my interactions with them...yikes.
