Re: Whats new with Teh Gheyrod...
I am very impressed with the quality and fitment of this bar. When installing, it was apparent that the stock chassis has already gotten tweaked a bit b/c some force was needed to get 2 of the 10 bolts in place; overall not bad though so I'm really happy I did this now instead of waiting. You can see in the pic below how weak and puny the stock tie-bars are in comparison. Since I no longer need to run spacers for the bars to clear my downpipe I don't think I'm losing a whole lot of ground clearance, I'd say a 1/2" at the absolute max, but I doubt its even that much. I haven't done much hard driving yet so I can't really give a review on it yet, but going into clover-leafs the car did feel more compliant and planted which is good. One thing though, the front stock tie-bar is 3-point but for some reason Carbing opted against using the center mounting point (on the brace that holds the front motor mount).
Clears the Buschur 3" downpipe with no spacers!
About to sword fight with Zac!
Carbing 6-point vs. stock:

Zac (hellomynameis) got it for me as a Christmas gift so you'd have to ask him. On the front it has a name patch that says "Kracka"

Yup, thats a Buschur "stainless steel" downpipe... A lot of my stuff from him that is supposedly stainless steel is rusting: downpipe, catback, bolts, spacers, etc. At least its all lightweight, fits, and works well b/c the quality is definitely not a strong point. Even the Buschur SS LICP I used to have was rusting! At least my intake pipe and o2 housing are still fine. Eventually I plan to redo my entire exhaust with a MAP o2/cat elim downpipe and Perrin catback.

Re: Whats new with Teh Gheyrod...
Do you know what grade Stainless Steel it is? Maybe he just used cheap 409 stainless which is typically what OEM exhausts are made of.

Re: Whats new with Teh Gheyrod...
Cheap 409 is probably right...even eBay exhausts use polished 304.

Re: Whats new with Teh Gheyrod...
I just got back from my first hard drive since installing it last night and all I can saw is, "Wow!" Whipping around clover-leafs the car just plants itself in the corner and holds the line the whole way through! No more need to make steering adjustments as the chassis flexes changing the alignment. Even at low speeds making hard cuts and quick transitions the car feels a lot more solid and eager. I'm definitely glad I got this and can't wait to feel it on the autocross course this summer!

Re: Whats new with Teh Gheyrod...
I just got another alignment from Jeff the Alignment Guy and the car is feeling great! He used Andres' specs which are from Robispec so it should be a great setup for autocross.

Humm... Maybe I should have John make something like that for my car. Sounds like it made a good difference in the feel of the car.

HAHA no changes prior to the cruise to make sure everything is 100%! I do have a new brake setup sitting in my closet though and I would like to get that installed and broken-in before the first auto-x event (May 2nd).

I think if you do it right, you don't need brakes.

Nice, I think I'm gonna need a ride in this thing on the dyno day if it's there.

Re: Whats new with Teh Gheyrod...
After auto-x last weekend I was fairly disappointed in the pads, they felt very soft, mushy, and just didn't bite that well. Fast forward to last night, I removed the stock pad shims that I reused at the recommendation of Smikevo and wow what a difference! The pads bite nice and hard right at the top of the pedal! They were squealing while I was rebedding them to the rotors, but once I did a few hard stops they've been whisper quiet. Also, I'll add, that after almost two weeks of use and an auto-x event my wheels have very little dust on them. As of right now I'm very impressed and can't wait to autocross again this weekend; I'll report back afterwards!
