Re: 1Gb rear conversion

Looks good! After checking it out in person today (we accidentaly ran into each other while scoping Calhoun for hotties) and knowing what you paid, you definitely couldn't go wrong I really like the metallic flake in there, was that included in the factory paint or did you ask them to toss that in?

Re: 1Gb rear conversion

factory it came metalic, and they just copied exactly what the factory color was! Again you can point out flaws in it, but for what I paid, I can't complain, it's exactly what I wanted!

Looks nice, I saw it the other night at Porkys. But damn dude, clean those fucking tires and get the rear camber adjusted. Your not going to have any back tires in a few hundred miles.

Re: 1Gb rear conversion

I wasn't cleaning anything because I wan't sure how long you're supposed to wait until you wash a freshly painted car.

And the camber is under control. It was supposed to get alligned last saturday, but Brian found a problem where the upper control arm gets adjustd. Some metal colar piece in there is bent, so he couldn't allign it. So I am going to have LSE take a look at it one of these days. So don't worry about me young weezy.

Re: 1Gb rear conversion

Hold off on waxing for now, but spray it with a hose and quality car washing soap all you want!

Re: 1Gb rear conversion

You can wash it all you want, but like S2Kracka said, hold off on the wax for the first 3 months or so. also, the quality of the soap doesn't matter much, but just make sure you get the water off with a soft shamois otherwise you'll have little scratches all over it.

Quality of the soap greatly effects the shine properties of the paint. Meguiar's Gold Class is the best easily available wash I have found so far. Meguair's NXT paste wax is really tough to beat too. It shines better than Gold Class paste wax, but doesn't last as long. For drying, I personally use a California Water Blade followed by a waffle-weave microfiber towel. Cotton never touches my car.

Re: 1Gb rear conversion

If it's a good quality clearcoat it doesn't really matter what soap you use on it, just what you're using to wash and dry it with. from my personal expierence, those california waterblades are crap. I find that they're hard to get into tight places and bodylines can be a bitch to get dry as well. Although, I do like microfiber towels.
