Conflict Resolution, DSMStyle Members, Need Your Opinions.

So a month or so back, I sold my 1991 1G-A Eagle Talon TSI to Alpha DSM.

http://mitsustyle.com/forums/showthread.php?t=24543

At the time, to the best of my knowledge, I diagnosed the current issue as massive boost leaks. The car was sold AS IS.

After the sale, he texts me asking how to do _____ or why this doing _____. Basically annoying texts all the time. Now, he texts me while I'm at school, asking who did this, how to fix this, telling me that this part and this part aren't working, this issue is popping up.

My point being...

Should I keep dealing with his texts?

I feel like for a car sold as is, I shouldn't be taking time out my day to answer questions.

He bought a DSM. Unless you were shady and didn't tell him if something was booty/ghetto-fab, just tell him to quit bugging you.

This seems to happen often with dsms.

Tell him there is a search button on the forums for a reason. If he has any questions he'll have to learn for himself.

lol, true. It happened to me and I sold a stock dsm. I tried to be helpful and made sure that he was fully sure he wanted to buy it before doing the switch.

if it was sold as is it was sold as is and no need to help but there is nothing wrong with helping someone out a little bit

This happens way too dam much. I get it all of the time when I sell parts. I sold a 14b turbo to someone once and he kept texting me asking how to hook up the external wastegate, and then he changed his mind and wanted a different turbo so wanted to trade me back my old turbo that I sold him for other parts that I had and i was getting to annoyed so I finally stopped responding and told him I dont have time for his shit. Tell the guy that it is HIS car now so leave you alone and use something called the INTERNET to find his answers.

guide him towards researching on his own. That's what I had to do. Research, REsearch, RESEARCH. You did sell it AS-IS, so at this point, you don't need to help that much instead guide him to VFAQ or to Tuners or someplace where he himself can learn much more about these cars.
I know some people who come into the DSM world thinking it's a Honda...no...no. It is not a Honda and it does not have a VTEC solenoid. *sighs*

The forums are here for a reason Tell alpha not to be shy, start a project thread, and let us help. Cars get sold as-is all the time and getting pissed off to no end isn't going to help anything, at least not in the long term.

Accept what you bought and deal with it. DSMs are endless project cars.

This is why I won't sell DSM's anymore. With other cars, the buyer might go out and beat on it right out of the driveway, with DSM's, it's guaranteed.

Ive been on both ends of that one. Neither one is good, but at the end of the day its HIS car now and not yours. Therefore its HIS problem not yours, it sucks but at the end of the day its just a car.

Re: Conflict Resolution, DSMStyle Members, Need Your Opinions.

This is why n00bz shouldn't buy modded DSM's. Unless you were shady with him, the car is now his responsibility and is no longer your issue. He needs to start a project thread and if help/guidance is needed then the members of this board will do so.

Re: Conflict Resolution, DSMStyle Members, Need Your Opinions.

At the end of the day true it is my car, and it is my problem now. All i am saying is it would of been nice if you would of told me the intercooler was crap, and i had to fix it or pick up a new one. Second i guess i cant blame you for never replying to any of my emails asking to pick up the rest of my parts or inquire of the background of who put the motor together. Guess you take that as a nuisance. If you forgot i work as well, and go to college do you think it is FUN chasing after you wondering why you say everything on the car was fine yet the very next day there was OIL as well as Coolant under the car where it came from God knows im still figuring it out! Rebuild Motors poof out SO MUCH smoke that you cant breath around them well neither did i know that. Neither did i know that Burning Rich produces PURPLE SMOKE! Guess all the Carbon deposit will burn out since according to you that is what is causing my PURPLE SMOKE. Neither Did i know that The manifold you gave me would not fit after replacing it! Having to do it Twice. My car my mistake i should have known, and not takes someones word for it. Stephan i guess i could sit here and complain all i want its not gonna fix anything. If you don't wanna take responsibility for some of the mistakes you did that is fine. I guess you can say what ever you want about me. There are obviously plenty of people out there willing to help. So please i ask you to just give me the rest of the stuff so we can finish the deal of. Your wheels I AM NOT INTENDING TO KEEP YOU CAN HAVE THEM BACK!

Why did you buy the car if its blowing so much smoke and leaving puddles everywhere it sits?

Re: Conflict Resolution, DSMStyle Members, Need Your Opinions.

Noob i am and willing to learn i better be since i do own a DSM now! You live to learn from your mistakes.......Its a DSM i wasn't expecting a flawless car.......but neither did i expect what i got...all in all i am happy with the car. It has a rebuild motor in it pretty decent body itll run like a champ soon. If everything is how you described the purple smoke will soon stop the vaccum leaks will be fixed when the new Mitsubishi injector seals come in on Friday. Everything will be just FINE! If not oh well ITS A DSM WHAT DO YOU EXPECT! So why sit here, argue about how you did this and that.

Re: Conflict Resolution, DSMStyle Members, Need Your Opinions.

personally i think it comes down to the buyer, if you dont know how to inspect a car, get someone who does.

there isnt a whole lot of people who wont let you poke all around the car before you buy. and if they dont let you, just dont buy.

there is a general rule of thumb, cars always break when they change hands, even more so with older cars.

Re: Conflict Resolution, DSMStyle Members, Need Your Opinions.

Good luck in resolving the issues. Purple smoke is more than likely oil though so don't expect that to clear up. IMO the OP at least owes some answers to Alpha D regarding who rebuilt the engine, etc.

When selling a used car please be as up-front and honest as possible. When buying a used car, especially a modded one, be sure you know exactly what you're looking at and ask the questions that require detailed answers. If either party is getting a bad vibe then just walk away.

Re: Conflict Resolution, DSMStyle Members, Need Your Opinions.

Thats the thing though there wasnt anything at his house, when i towed the car home because i didn't think it would be smart to drive without a windshield and it RUNNING SUPER RICH according to stephan, we did not DRIVE THE CAR! I refused to move it untill i fixed the stuff that was wrong with it. As soon as we jumped the car since the battery was dead SMOKE JUST STARTED POURING! Ill post the vids to entertain some people later on. I sat there like O_O cough cough well itll all stop soon you guys dont worry 3mins later black fluid shooting out the exhaust im like oh hmm i guess this is the carbon deposits he was talking about.....turned it off let all the smoke clear started it again smoke goes white then to purple now i know something is not right. I always thought RIch running cars produce black smoke, but with a little research they tend to smoke white to sooo that leaves me with two options EITHER IT BURNS COOLANT and im screwed or its because its rebuild and its all good it'll stop soon. Yet the magnitude of the smoke was just significant not to mention it was bluish purple....

Used cars are sold as-is as long as the private seller was honest regarding all issues/problems that exist. If you hid something or lied about something then thats a whole new ball game. Now that you've started a thread and the buyer has posted in it, you might as well answer his questions since he is a fellow member of this board in need of assistance.
