Correct, a deposit has been sent to the owner in exchange for the removal of his online listing. We're meeting him at 8am. Today he put the stock wheels with good tires back on it, had the oil changed, had the battery replaced, and had the mechanic do a complete inspection (hence the battery replacement). All the drivetrain fluids are current. Apparently all it needs for the cross-country trip is gas (he said its at 1/4 tank).

I didn't get a pic, but I stuffed a 28" Ariens snowblower back there with the stroller today, captains chairs was def. a great choice.

Got a line on some stock wheels locally too!

Yep, and the denali version has a tow mode and has the bigger 6.0. I have hauled a lot with mine. The burban/Yukon will have no problems either.

Looks like a nice purchase! I definitely like the 20's, we have some off a newer burban on ours and the handling is noticeably better with the 20's on.

Agreed, these ones actually don't look too bad in person. I'd stick with them unless you can find some stockers for cheap that come with good tires!

You're looking at Z71 wheels, right? I believe they're an inch wider because of the fender flares. I ended up going from 17's to some OEM 20's from the Silverado. I liked them better than the available Tahoe wheels and they still had the Chevy logo on the center cap. I did notice a bit rougher ride, but better handling of course.

Tahoe/suburban driveline are identical to the 1/2 ton silverado. Same 4l60e transmission, same 8 1/4" front diff, rear diff is almost the same. Transfer cases are the same.

Yeah I'm trying to find Z71 wheels, just missed a set for $180 shipped on the forums.
All these locals want $450+ for their shit.

I found these
http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/hn...760689485.html

http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/hn...766464198.html

Not sure yet, would like to keep it cheap.

I'd really just like a set of OEM Z71 wheels too.

Re: Early 2000-2005 Chevy Tahoe vs. Toyota Sequoia

Those are both the 2007+ styles, so they'll be more expensive. I think I paid $700 for mine a few years ago with junk tires. Surprisingly, the 20" tires were actually cheaper than the 17's. The factory Z71 wheels for that year are pretty good looking and should be reasonable, if you can find a set locally.

Re: Early 2000-2005 Chevy Tahoe vs. Toyota Sequoia

yeah, it's crazy the pricing on wheels.

To be honest I've been searching for a few hours and I'm realizing after searching forums, CL, and tirerack.com

That 17s will be getting tough to find, the selection of 17s on tirerack was disgusting they don't offer shit. I'll stick with 20s if I can, but I have to see what I can score a deal on.

I'll just stick with these unless I can find a deal of some kind.

Ordered up parts to do a tune-up, plugs, wires, PCV valve, oil filter, etc.

I'd personally just plasti dip the centers and leave polished lip on the wheels you have.

I do like the Z71 17"'s. But the 20's you linked looked nice too. The problem with 20's is the price of tires....especially if you want something that will do more than just go down the freeway.

Actually, I found the price lower for the 20's over the 17's. I suppose they're more common these days. I'm already due for my next set(got about 45k on my current Falkens), and I really like new tires. Decent tires are only about $160/each, go figure.
