True, the torque was barely lower, only for a few hundred rpms at most, so it shouldn't be too noticeable.
I did a few 2nd gear pulls that felt great. I think the car could be dancing on some different load cells perhaps, tough to know. It's really cold out too which seems to do weird things on my car...like one pull will be awesome then it will seem to fall on its face. This wasn't the best example as I started a bit high for rpms and also stopped short with some knock counts popping up.
I think it will feel awesome once the tune is adjusted for the manifold, then a way better comparison will be had.
This was my dd tune on the graph...I think it was spiking cause of the cold.

Ouch, horrible news. You now how the saying goes, you gotta pay to play. Sounds like you're learning the hard way, and really quickly.
Good luck, and us Blainian's like to stick together, so let us know if you need a hand with anything.

Ouch
What are the specs of this engine? Wasn't it just built a few thousand miles ago?

Manley I beam Rods
AMS Spec JE Pistons
Cosworth Rod bearings
Stock crank, stock sleeves
Yes, it was just built, the car literally just came outta storage...
Thanks fellow Blaine peeps. Who wants to have a motor pull session? Beer and pizza is about all I can offer.
I guess it could come to that, but I need to know the shortblock can be salvaged and thats if DB doesn't do anything for me, I have no idea what they are going to say.
Who knows, this seriously blows.

I didn't give up last time, but this is probably the last straw...the car will probably be sold unless something is worked out. No idea what to even price it at, 18k maybe, the car only has 28k on the clock. And the shortblock isn't vented so who knows. I sure don't...FML.

This always sucks, no fun blowing shit up with that low of mileage. I'm pretty close by and could give a hand if needed.

Hopefully they do something for you since they built and tuned it.

Re: Dave's Evo X Build/The Life of Dave blog
Yup, I can help pull it as well as long as I'm available. My schedule is usually pretty screwy however. And I've never worked on an X...

Re: Dave's Evo X Build/The Life of Dave blog
Like I said the only way I would even bother pulling it unless I am pretty damn sure it is possible to salvage the block. If anything is wrong in the lower end, which sounds like its the case, I am hoping a resleeve with new pistons/rods will do the trick. It's still basically a full rebuild but if we want to make a mitsustyle meet out of everyone playing with my car I am fine with that, lol. I don't expect this to be resolved anytime soon...it'll be a while before anything happens I am sure.

Goddamn....What a way to start the season, huh? Sorry to hear about your misfortunes. If I have the day off and you're wrenching maybe I'll have to make the long haul up and lend a hand. Did you at least have AAA for a free tow?

I have a normal AAA membership, so the tow was like 90 bucks since it was like 28 miles to my house. Not terrible, when my motor first blew I paid like 250. I should've just gotten the premium AAA it would've paid for itself by now.

Nope, not at all. I was the only one to touch a laptop, I just did logging too.

Thats what I have and when mine blew I first got towed about 8miles no charge then next day back to my house 20miles on again no charge. The premium is totally worth it IMO.Sorry to hear about this
