Re: The Gun Thread

I'm pretty sure I'm decided on a Springfield XDm now, but I'm torn on which caliber to get.

http://www.the-m-factor.com/html/specs_3.html

I went to the gun shop/range yesterday to check them out, but the range was super busy so there was a 30 minute wait to try out their rentals so I didn't get to fire them, just handle them.

That's what I'm leaning towards...nice balance between 9mm and .45.

9mm - 19 rounds
.40 - 16 rounds
.45 - 13 rounds

Re: The Gun Thread

Lets be honest, you're never going to shoot anyone with it (which is good!) so just go with the cheapest ammo to plink things at the range with (9mm)

Shot an AK 47 and the big guy in the second picture. It's the one in the middle at the bottom of the pic.

Full auto on both, the target coconuts died.

Re: The Gun Thread

My dad has the XDm .40 and it shoots really nice, I like it a bit better than my regular XD .40. The adjustable grips and higher capacity magazine are nice upgrades from the standard version. I vote get the .40.

Awesome, thanks for the feedback. I am hearing nothing but good about the XDm series.

Re: The Gun Thread

XD's are great guns. The only things I don't like about them is that they are single action triggers with no true hammer block safety.

If you're not going to be carrying with one hot, it's not a big deal.

Great pic, love me some RPK. The rest of his Eastern Block collection is quite nice too
Is the mortor tube for sporting purposes?

And Mike is correct, that is an RPG tube

Re: The Gun Thread

That's what I thought it was. That's probably not legal to have, is it?

The tube is legal to own but $$$ and might be considered a destructive device by the ATF (can't remember)

To get non dummy projectiles for it is impossable & a BIG no no

Re: The Gun Thread

The RPG peaked my interest.

An RPG tube is legal in the US with proper ATF paper work (class III)

A deactivated one such as below requires no paperwork as it can never again be made to fire.

No idea if it would be considered a gun, but depending on what the range is on something like that, I would like to use it for deer hunting ! haha

Re: The Gun Thread

Ok it's Friday, so I'm gonna lay some heavy shit on you. Scheides household has a new armament guarding it. Be wary all unauthorized intruders, lest ye be rained down fire from this new weapon of destruction!

That's right! Nerf CS-18 Alpha Trooper. Anna let me go to Target alone the other day and was making the list of things to get on my phone while we were in the car.

"hrm....what else do we need?" She asked...
my response, "windshield washer fluid, a nerf gun, and oh! Liquid Plumber! I used the last of it last weekend."

To my surprise, when I was looking through the list at the list at the store, there it was. Nerf gun. Right above milk and right below windshield fluid. I bought 3 extra 18-packs of darts so I could empty 4 full clips before having to go pick them all up

After a few days of playing with it I thought to myself....there had to be a way to make this thing more powerful! So off to the internet I went, and let me tell you there are some serious nerf dorks out there. The youtube videos are LOLerskates, but a few show you how to remove some of the safety locks and increase the range/velocity of these things.

So, I disassembled:

CS-18 Mod list:
-Removed 'safety' locks
-sealed bore breach hole
-increased air seal tension w/ teflon tape
-shimmed main spring about 1/3-1/2"

This thing is awesome now! Darts used to fly across my living room with a nice gentile arc...now they freaking rip across with a that nervous "I'm going toooo fasst!" twitch/jitter....it's awesome! Using 'slam fire' mode or whatever it's called, you can empty the 18-dart clip in about 12 seconds. The dogs still don't understand wtf is happening--I'm def putting this thing under my pillow for late-night robberies and in my bag on the cruise for late-night shenanigans.
