Get some cams, they will make or break a car.
I had my eye on your fans, but I saw that you didn't want to split them from the radiator.
I was hoping for 400, I should have taken your fp manifold with the turbo. Ill plan on picking up some cams.

I have Carl's old 2g exhaust manifold, I'm 95% it's not ported at all.

Re: 1g 6 bolt 4g63 tsi build

I got down to the last 5.8 gallons of the E76 I was tuned on earlier this week. I just filled the tank with 10.1 gallons from Holiday on hwy 100 and minnetonka blvd. When I got home, I used the tester I bought from DB it shows E80. So with the mix it may have been pretty close to E85 at that Holiday.

Good to know! That will be the main station I use when my car is up and running again since it's the closest station to my work with e85

Yeah, swing by or hit me up if you need a hand or anything. I'd like to see your car sometime.

Re: 1g 6 bolt 4g63 tsi build

Ok so I'm having issues with the evo3 conversion/welded diff transmission. Mainly due to driving with a dragging clutch for the past 10 months. So I picked up a backup trans, a new 2600 pressure plate, new release fork/pivot ball, new oem TOB, and a new 6 puck sprung disc. Also picked up a fidanza flywheel and put a new friction surface on it.

I'm going to swap in the new clutch and backup trans then repair/upgrade my current transmission.

Re: 1g 6 bolt 4g63 tsi build

OK I was putting off changing out the clutch and transmission. Ive been daily driving with the 2nd gear pop-out and grinding 3rd gear. I drove to ham lake to drop off a Saturn cylinder head (other project in my garage), when I was arriving to my destination, the trans got stuck in 4th gear. Any other gear but 4th it would stall immediately.

Since at my house waiting for me was a fidanza flywheel, new pressure plate, new disc, new tob, new release fork, AND a back up trans/tcase, I said screw it and took off in 4th gear for the 40 mile trip back home at 3:30 in the afternoon, just as traffic was picking up in 4th gear only.

Last night after work I pulled the trans. This morning I changed the clutch and reinstalled the trans. With the lightweight flywheel, six puck disc, and without a welded diff/EvoIII parts it is definitely different to drive. Still got to break it in though. Now I'll have to start setting aside money to fix my main transmission.

Yeah major clutch slippage required to take off in 4th gear, here are some pics of the flywheel, 2600 PP, ACT street disc after 1 year and only about 16k miles, and many launches, no lift to shifts etc.

I also put on some new rubber, I went with the Bridgestone Potenza RE970AS. 225/45/17. Although I will most likely be putting on some Bridgestone Blizzaks come snow time, I wanted to stick with an all season tire for daily driving. Huge improvement from the Falken ZE912s that I had before.

Re: 1g 6 bolt 4g63 tsi build

Last night I pulled the throttle body again to install the FIAV bypass plate. Not the full block off as I want to keep the ISC. After the cold start this morning I realized this is one of those things I should have done a long time ago.

Ya know, I was just thinking of this thing today. When you got the shell from Jason, did it come with a FMIC? I sold it to him with that big Dejon Tool FMIC that came off swifty's old 1g (Shawn's car now). I picked up that VRSF one on here a few days ago and I thought Richie said you had showed interest in it as well.

Yeah, it came with 2 actually. The big Dejon tool one, and a brand new ebayish one which was smaller but had long route side exits. I ended up using the smaller of the 2 since I was just 14b and it was shinier and new. But now I want to go short route piping. I ended up selling or trading Swiftys old one. I think gsxvince has it now, I'm not sure though.

Re: 1g 6 bolt 4g63 tsi build

Picked up this "mint condition, no cracks, or stripped screw holes" valve cover last night from a guy on craigslist. It has fresh wrinkle black paint on it. I got home and inspected it further and found what I thought was a hairline crack next to the #2 spark plug hole bolt but wasn't sure if it was an actual crack. Installed it very carefully making sure not to over torque any bolts or make the suspected crack worse. Sure enough it leaks at that spot.

The douche bag painted right over the crack and sold it as "mint condition".
His phone number is (612) 296-2504 and lives near the Cub foods on Hwy 65 in Blaine. Anybody know him? Guy is being a total prick when I told him about the crack.

and yeah, yeah I know. Thats what I get for buying used parts from craigslist.
