Re: 1g 6 bolt 4g63 tsi build

Still waiting for a solution from Prosport about the faulty pressure sender.

Over the winter it has been fine, but since its gotten warmer the sunroof leaks. It leaks only under the high pressure spray in the car wash. I pulled out the sunroof, everything, and resealed the frame that holds the glass. Took it through the car wash today and no more leak!

Re: 1g 6 bolt 4g63 tsi build

Getting tuned on the 15th. Switching to E85 so next time I need to, I'll fill it with "E85".

Link wise, what do I do to drive away from the e85 pump?
All I need to do is adjust for aprox 33% more fuel keeping fuel trims in check correct? What a/f ratios should I be looking for?

Yea, add 35% fuel, AFR should remain the same on the gas scale, so 14.7:1 cruise and 11.5:1 WOT for starters.
I would get the STFT and LTFT as close to 0 as possible before your tune.

Ok cool thanks. Filled with ethanol today. Got it all sorted out. I didnt have to add that much yet since i'm running a mixture with gas still.

Told ya! Just wait till you get it tuned by Shane! You'll be blown away I promise

I wish I had that day off to come watch, but I'll have to come down and check it out afterwards or something.

Pretty tough to blow it up unless you are doing pulls. And who does that? Seems like you are asking for trouble.

I forgot to mention (and I hope you realized this already), but you don't add 35% in DSMlink to the global fuel compensation. You basically scale the injector down 35% and then input that setting for the injector. So for 1650cc you would have -72%, but on E85 they act like 1220cc which would be -63%. Hope that makes sense. Just watch your short and long term fuel trims and make them zero, that's all that matters.

Yeah, I got it. It's running very well. I'm monitoring everything very closely. And obviously, ill be making more adjustments next time I fill the tank since I'm still diluting out gasoline.

Re: 1g 6 bolt 4g63 tsi build

I filled it up with E85 again today, had the laptop with so I could adjust for the new mixture in the tank (still diluting gas out of tank). Everything was running fine until during a cruise my fuel trims start going crazy, my wideband was showing that it wasnt cutting fuel on decel. I pulled off and let it idle, something was definitely wrong. The car would barely idle, So I pulled the vacuum line of my AFPR, yup it was dumping fuel in the vacuum line. Threw on a stock regulator and its good to go.

I'm going to pull the AFPR apart tomorrow to see what's going on with the diaphragm. I'm wondering if the E85 has anything to do with the sudden failure of the regulator.

^The e85 won't wreck a regulator, especially that fast. Glad you got it figured out so quick. You don't want problems before a tune. Make sure to do a boost leak test and have NO leaks before your tune as well.

Re: 1g 6 bolt 4g63 tsi build

So this morning I pulled the transmission so I could replace the output shaft seal. Its been leaking since day 1. I overlooked that seal when assembling the car, although I replaced both axle seals at the time. Over winter it was fine couple drips under the car, since its been warm the leak got much much worse. Glad I finally took care of that seal, while I was in there inspected the clutch, throw out bearing etc.. All was good.

Also, I ordered a mishimoto fan to aid the single flex a lite fan with cooling, it showed up today. Ill be installing that very soon. I've been running about 210*F cruising, is that normal or should I be looking to drop engine temps more?

Re: 1g 6 bolt 4g63 tsi build

Looks like it needs some cams and more boost! How does it feel on the road compared to before?

It is a lot smoother, better drivability. Spool up seems smooth and solid. He did a pull before any tuning, it hit 248 at around 24 psi I think. Seemed to lose power anything more than the 27psi it's set at now. Maybe Shane will chime in with more info.

Re: 1g 6 bolt 4g63 tsi build

So I was expecting more power from this ef1. Suggestions?
How much gain could I expect from different cams?
How much power could my 255 and 1250cc injectors support?
My only boost leak is very minimal at the throttle body shaft seal. Going to be addressed very soon.

Aaron, Carl and Nick all ran low 11s at 120mph. What cams, injectors, boost were you guys running?

Re: 1g 6 bolt 4g63 tsi build

I would say the turbo is easily capable of 350-360 with good cams and an intake manifold. Your fuel system should support low to mid 400s.
