Agreed. That doesn't mean you can't own a nice car (I know all about this particular point. lol.)

Re: Finally got my Evo
^Of course, most people these days just keep dumping money into it to make up the difference.
GH your car is beautiful and I would love to have it.
I like that shot of the trunk, looks awesome. I'm sure I will get a good look at it if we ever roll. hahaha

Re: Finally got my Evo
Had to get some Jimmy John's after my tune, so I snapped this picture quick. I just uploaded it this morning, had almost forgot about it. Probably one of my favorite pics of the car already haha

Re: Finally got my Evo
Sweet. 4th gear has been grinding lately, really taking it easy shifting into 4th. Bad synchro I'm sure. Ron says the trans has to come out to replace it. I don't have a ton of money right now, but I also don't feel like doing this job more than once. I wish I could have it fixed while in the car to keep the cost to a minimum, but it sounds like that is out of the question.
Maybe if I plan it right, I can do the swap in a weekend, and then have Ron swap in a good 4th gear synchro from my spare trans to the one in it now, and then sell it.
The rest of the trans is mint, maybe I could re-coup most of the cost by doing that? thoughts?
Anyone have a spare 5 speed laying around? I see AWDMotorsports sells the full conversion kit (Base, shifter, linkage, reverse switch, bracketry on trans and trans mount) for $350 now.

Re: Finally got my Evo
When does it grind? My 5th gear grinds any time I shift into it over 4000 RPM and it's been like this for a few years. Live with it until you can fix it the right way.

Pretty much what you described. I would really like to drag race it this summer though. I don't know, it just really sucks. Disappointing as this trans is already the 2nd one the car has had in it and it is only supposed to have ~30k miles on it by now. It's a real light grind, not like total gear chipping action yet, but I'd still like it taken care of before total destruction.

Re: Finally got my Evo
My stomach hurts from laughing so hard at your picture you made. very nice numbers for stock turbo. Power band is nice and flat. Can you feel the extra power?

Re: Finally got my Evo
haha glad I could provide some laughs.
Yea, I can definitely feel the extra power, the car feels great, and the smoothest/strongest it has ever pulled! Thanks again shane!
I wish I had my scanner working right now, I'd like some of that scheides overlay action!

Re: Finally got my Evo
Also, what's new with the car since the last dyno @ 350whp? Just more boost or something?

Re: Finally got my Evo
Just my old charts to see where the extra power was picked up. I held both paper sheets up to a light and tried to match them up, it seemed like it was mostly under the curve power on the top end. Here's the old chart:

Re: Finally got my Evo
Far far far from perfect but boost looks to be nearly identical and the car is magically up on powa up top. What's different besides time of year and maybe some timing? Scales were different on the boost plots so I erased the power lines as it looks like the car is up like 50whp, LOL.

Re: Finally got my Evo
haha thanks! Thats crazy.
The only thing I changed since then (and the reason I went in to get re-tuned) was the UICP/BOV/Intake combo.
Spring combo
UICP: Injen
Intake: Injen
BOV: Synapse
Fall combo
UICP: Stock IX
Intake: Perrin
BOV: crushed stock
I wish I could have used my Synapse again, but it doesn't fit now, it's a pretty tight fit with everything in there.

Re: Finally got my Evo
I wonder if the cobb XLE bov would fit? Mine traded pretty evenly for my stock X BOV. You're welcome to borrow mine for a test-fit sometime.
