Re: GT5: anyone get it?

The game is kinda lame.... I'm at level 23 now, I dont really understand why you have all the cars for the races and you get the really modded out cars when all you need is a 400hp car to kill the competition. I guess I'm playing the game to win not really test my driving skills at it...

I also wish they would have kept the B spec fast forward option. Totally boring sitting around watching every race at regular speed.

Are you in the Extreme Series at all yet? There are some races in there where typical opponents have over 700hp.

Turn off driving aids and then you will have your driving skills tested.

Re: GT5: anyone get it?

I have 3 races left in extreme series. I havnt unlocked any endurance races yet. Guess I should check out the driving aids and see what is enabled. Never took the time to check that out, just started racing.... Now I kinda feel like I've been cheating or something...

What 400hp car are you winning all of the extreme races with?

and what car did you use to win the pre 1979 race car cup with? I havent found one less than 10,000,000 credits that does anything worth while?

the 400hp was a lil sarcastic, sorry. Just seems like a lot of the races have cars with 5xxhp or so. Granted there are the races with 900hp Minolta and stuff like that.

As for the historic one...the best luck I've had is with the race modified '70 challenger and all the parts. That is the one race i just cant seem to get 1st place at. Just having problems keeping it cornering the way I want it to. So need to keep working on that.

Ahh ok, I was like WTF!

Yeah i tried the '69 camaro and it wasn't fast enough in the straight line... and just bought the challenger and RM it'd but havent tried it yet. Im tempted to just save up 10 million just to get it done!!

Have you done the sesonal evens -- bonus races yet? Those are fun they get new ones every couple weeks and have big winnings.

That cup is brutal!

I was fairly close in a modded to the gills Countach, but on the Monte Carlo Circuit I got utterly sodomized by that blasted Chaparral 2J.

I raced the '70 Challenger on monday, and got to the point where i could lead the deep forest raceway for the first 4 3/4 laps and that little white thing comes out of no where and beats me by 2 seconds. I don't understand where it comes from!!! I'm tempted to start making extra PSN accounts with 1970 bday's to try and get that white thing gifted to me as a bday present!!

The little white thing:

Quote:
The most unusual Chaparral was the 2J. In addition to a powerful 700 hp engine, and a three-speed semi automatic transmission, the back of the 2J housed two 17-inch fans driven by a single 45 hp snowmobile engine. The Can Am Series had no engine size limit, so the snowmobile engine wasn't affected by an engine displacement maximum.

The purpose of the fans was to 'suck' air from under the car to provide downforce. This gave the car tremendous gripping power and enabled greater maneuverability at all speeds, which cannot be achieved by simpler aerodynamic devices such as diffusers and wings.

Since it created the same levels of low pressure under the car at all speeds, down-force did not decrease at lower speeds. With other aerodynamic devices, down-force decreases as the car slows down or achieves too much of a slip angle, both of which were not problems for the 'sucker car'. It also had ground effect Lexan-plastic skirts to keep air from leaking in, a technology that would appear in Formula One several years later.

^^Wasn't that car banned from competition because of the fans in the rear?

Indeed, after just one season.

I mean, seriously?

Just whooped up on the 2J Race car on the Cote dAzur race!! Just had to rough it up a bit in the begining, and get it facing the wrong way! ended up beating it by 10 seconds! On to Deep Forest!
